Joe Rogan Calls Mouth Taping a ‘Game Changer’ for Sleep Quality
Joe Rogan is a strong proponent of using mouth tape.
On Tuesday, March 18, during an episode of his “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, Rogan, 57, spoke highly of sleeping with tape over his mouth while conversing with comedian Bert Kreischer. “I know people say this and I’m aware it sounds like just another one of those fitness influencer trends where someone is trying to sell something, but I have nothing to gain from this,” Rogan stated.
“I’m not promoting anything. I use a brand called Hostage Tape. I’m sure there are other good brands, but I find the name ‘Hostage Tape’ quite amusing,” he remarked.
He mentioned that this lifestyle adjustment, which involves keeping your mouth closed while you sleep, has been a “game changer” for his sleep quality.
“Now I have sleep apnea, so I wear a mouthpiece,” he explained. “My mouthpiece includes a sturdy tongue depressor that’s fitted to my lower jaw, preventing my tongue from falling back and obstructing my airway. I have a substantial tongue.” He continued, “I then place the tape over my mouth, so I don’t use it at all while I sleep.”
For those unfamiliar, mouth taping offers several advantages, including improved sleep quality by minimizing snoring and alleviating sleep apnea symptoms, as well as reducing dry mouth, bad breath, dental issues, and gum disease.
Rogan isn’t the only celebrity who has openly endorsed mouth tape. Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Roberts, Jimmy Fallon, and Ashley Graham are just a few notable figures who have embraced this practice.
In November 2022, Paltrow, 52, shared with her followers that mouth taping is “probably the single best wellness tool I have discovered recently.” She also noted that “breathing through your nose at night apparently leads to alkalinity in the body and facilitates the best quality sleep.”
All in the name of achieving a restful beauty sleep!
