Kate Beckinsale Spotted on Rare Outing with Daughter Lily
Kate Beckinsale and her daughter, Lily Mo Sheen, enjoyed a special mother-daughter night courtside over the weekend.
The star of Underworld, aged 52, and her 26-year-old daughter were at the basketball match between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers at Intuit Dome on Saturday, December 20, in Inglewood, California.
Beckinsale styled her hair in a ponytail adorned with a black crown headband, coupled with a strapless top and eye-catching dangling bow earrings. Lily opted for a leather jacket, letting her reddish hair flow down, parted in the center. Both ladies sported glamorous makeup looks.
Lily is Beckinsale’s only child, whom she shares with ex Michael Sheen. Following in her parents’ footsteps, Lily is also working towards a career in acting. She made her mark in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent alongside Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal in 2022.
“My parents would support me in anything I chose to do,” Lily shared in an interview with W Magazine, expressing that she initially resisted the urge to enter the family business. “My mom often suggested, ‘Are you sure you don’t want to go to medical school?’ With my grandmother and grandfather both being actors, and my mom an actress, I felt most comfortable in that world. Ultimately, I just wanted to work.”
Regarding her bond with her mother, Lily called Beckinsale “the funniest person I’ve ever known,” and appreciated how her mom allowed her to explore her interests while growing up.
“It was lovely to have the freedom to explore different paths and discover my own passions,” Lily conveyed to W. “Whether I wanted to try ice skating or something else, it was encouraged. They never imposed a specific career path on me, which gave me the chance to analyze myself in a unique way.”
Recently, the family has gone through challenging times as they mourned the passing of Beckinsale’s parents: her mother Judy Loe, who succumbed to cancer in July, and stepfather Roy Battersby, who passed away in early 2024. Beckinsale’s biological father, Richard Beckinsale, died in 1979 from a heart attack at age 31.
“I didn’t want to share this, but I’m only doing so as I’ve had to register my mother’s death certificate, which will soon be public record. She passed away in my arms after suffering immensely,” Beckinsale expressed on Instagram regarding her mother’s death in July. “I haven’t selected the best photos or videos because I can’t bear to sift through my camera roll at this moment. I sincerely apologize to any of her friends learning of this through social media or press, but I’m paralyzed at the moment.”
She continued, “Jude was my guiding light, my dearest friend. The immense kindness and heart of this small woman touched countless lives. Her bravery and forgiveness were remarkable—that’s why the world feels dimmer without her. Mama, I love you greatly. My greatest fear, ever since discovering my father deceased at five, is now a reality. Oh Mama… I’m so sorry. I deeply apologize.”
In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Beckinsale spoke about the difficult times she has faced and shared a peculiar story involving Lily’s boyfriend.
“It’s been tough these last couple of years. Both my parents have passed away,” Beckinsale commented on the ABC late-night show, mentioning her daughter’s boyfriend: “And genuinely, the only bright spot during this period has been him.”
“Wow, that’s really sweet,” host Jimmy Kimmel responded. “That’s nice to hear.”
She humorously elaborated that the bright spot involved her daughter’s boyfriend “laying two eggs in one week,” leaving Kimmel visibly puzzled.
Beckinsale didn’t reveal the identity of the boyfriend but described a moment when he “went to the bathroom and was shocked to find that he had laid an egg.” She described it as having “a shell and a yolk” and “came out in the same way it would from a hen.”
The host was understandably surprised by this claim. Upon seeing a photo of one of the eggs in question, Kimmel exclaimed, “Your daughter’s boyfriend must be the Easter Bunny — there’s no other explanation!”
Beckinsale admitted to getting “very involved” in solving the mystery of the egg situation. “I needed a distraction since everything felt so daunting,” she explained.
