King Charles’ Godson, Hugh Grosvenor, Celebrates the Arrival of His First Child
Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, and his spouse Olivia Henson, are proud new parents.
“The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are overjoyed to share the arrival of their baby daughter,” the couple stated in a Sunday, July 27 announcement to Hello! . “They have chosen the name Cosima Florence Grosvenor, born today in London.”
The announcement added, “Both the Duchess and Cosima are doing well. The Duke and Duchess look forward to cherishing this special time together as a family.”
It was announced in March that Grosvenor was expecting his first child with Henson.
“The duchess is anticipating a baby this summer,” a representative for Grosvenor and Henson announced at the time. “The couple is ecstatic about the news and eagerly looks forward to beginning their family.”
Grosvenor wed Henson in June 2024, eight years after he became a duke. Hugh’s father, Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, held the title of Duke of Westminster until his passing in 2016 due to a heart attack.
Hugh is also involved in philanthropic efforts, such as leading the Westminster Foundation.
“We’re concentrating our resources where we believe we can create the most significant change through grant funding, offering support to charities to enhance their strength and resilience,” Hugh stated in a June statement. “[We’re also] collaborating with others to advocate for broader positive change.”
Additionally, Hugh has notable royal connections, being the godson of King Charles III and a longtime friend of Prince William. (The Prince of Wales, 43, even appointed Hugh as the godfather of his eldest son, Prince George.)
William even played the role of usher at Hugh’s 2024 wedding, attending alone while his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, dealt with an undisclosed illness. Kate, 43, confirmed her condition in March of that year.
“I am doing well and gaining strength each day by concentrating on what helps me heal mentally, physically, and spiritually,” she stated at the time. “Having William by my side is a tremendous source of comfort and consolation, as is the love, support, and kindness shown by so many. It means the world to both of us.”
Kate took a break from her official royal responsibilities while undergoing chemotherapy, which she finished in fall 2024. She is now in remission.
“You put on a brave facade, exhibiting stoicism throughout treatment. Once it’s finished, it feels like, ‘I can move on, return to normal,’ but the aftermath can be quite challenging,” Kate reflected during a public appearance in early July. “You’re no longer under medical supervision, yet it’s difficult to function at home as you once did. Having someone to help guide you through that transitional phase post-treatment is invaluable.”
