Nikki Bella’s True Feelings on Son Matteo Entering the Wrestling World
Following her first television appearance on WWE programming in six years, Nikki Bella is eager to expand her family’s professional wrestling legacy.
On Monday, June 9, Bella, 41, made her return to WWE Raw, where she exchanged verbal jabs with Liv Morgan. Although the segment ended with Bella on the mat, the Hall of Famer told Us Weekly it felt “super empowering” to be back in the ring.
Making the moment even more special, Bella’s son Matteo, 4, has recently developed a keen interest in wrestling.
“I’ve been watching Raw, and he’ll sit and watch with me,” Bella shared. “It’s amusing because he loves the women’s wrestling. But then suddenly he wants to wrestle me, and I can see it in him.”
Bella co-parents Matteo with her ex-husband Artem Chigvintsev, with their divorce finalized in December 2024.
“Matteo would definitely be a high flyer,” Bella commented on her son’s wrestling style. “He has a lot of grace and is incredibly athletic. He’s a fantastic dancer.”
Bella stated that she would “totally support” Matteo if he showed genuine interest in pursuing wrestling, especially in light of the current WWE environment.
“They truly care about their talent,” Bella explained. “It’s such a different atmosphere now. I would fully embrace and love it.”

Bella and her twin sister, Brie Bella, both joined WWE in June 2007 and became known as the Bella Twins. The sisters retired from full-time wrestling in 2019 but have since made surprise appearances at various Premium Live Events, including Nikki’s entrance in the 2025 Royal Rumble in February.
Brie shares children Birdie, 8, and Buddy, 4, with former WWE superstar and current AEW wrestler Bryan Danielson.
Nikki mentioned that she and her sister have already envisioned their sons teaming up inside the ring.
“Brie and I always say if our boys were the Bella Boys, it would be so adorable,” Nikki enthused. “They’re almost like twins. I would be in heaven.”
Matteo and Buddy were born just a day apart.
The idea of their sons wrestling together isn’t far-fetched, as Nikki noted that Buddy is “already on his way to becoming a wrestler.”
“He watches the Royal Rumble, the one I participated in, almost every day,” Nikki said about her nephew. “It’s so cute.”
Nikki is already scheduled to appear on next week’s WWE Raw in Green Bay, Wisconsin, as the company gears up for its second all-women’s Premium Live Event, Evolution, scheduled for July 13 in Atlanta.
