Sean Lowe Gives Clues About His Dog’s Condition Following Attacks

Sean Lowe and his spouse, Catherine Giudici, are trying to cope after a troubling incident involving their dog, Moose, attacking Sean.

“In light of what just happened, I’m understandably unable to keep Moose in our home. With young children around, my safety has to be my priority. Therefore, I’ve been in contact with local animal control, who connected me with a fantastic officer that happened to have a Boxer,” said Lowe, 41, in a detailed Instagram video on Monday, March 17. “He was incredibly understanding and we discussed various options. I reached out to the animal adoption agency where Moose came from and started looking into no-kill shelters. I was just seeking the best course of action, and this officer told me, ‘Go ahead and make your calls, then circle back to me. We’ll work through this together.’ He was immensely helpful.”

Lowe mentioned that the rescue organization later discovered that Moose had a “history” that they were unaware of, emphasizing that there are many wonderful dogs still in need of homes. He added that there were “no warning signs” as Moose had previously been “great” with their children. (The couple welcomed sons Samuel and Isaiah and daughter Mia in 2016, 2018, and 2019, respectively.)

Lowe recounted the intense “traumatic” experience, which began over the weekend during a barbecue with friends. As the smoke alarm sounded, Moose began to bite Lowe “aggressively” while he attempted to clear the smoke with a towel.

Sean Lowe is reflecting on a distressing episode involving his and wife Catherine Giudici’s dog, Moose. “Hey everyone, I suppose you could say our family encountered something quite traumatic over the weekend,” Lowe, 41, shared in a Monday, March 17, Instagram post. “I’ve considered whether or not to share this […]

“In the midst of all the chaos with the alarm going off, I firmly told him, ‘Moose. No. No.’ It was right then he bared his teeth and attacked me. I mean, he didn’t just nip and run like many dogs do when scared or defensive. He truly attacked me, and I felt him tearing into my arm’s flesh,” Lowe recalled. “At that moment, I was doing everything I could to fend off the dog.”

Lowe started “bleeding profusely,” claiming the cut was “so deep” that blood was “spouting” a couple of feet away. Although he initially feared that the dog “nicked an artery,” he was hurried to the ER where he received stitches in “five or six different areas” of his arm. The next morning, he described feeling “confused” and “heartbroken” about what had occurred.

After informing his parents about the attack, they offered to take the couple’s kids out of the house while they figured out their next steps. While his parents were there, Lowe stated that Moose escaped from the house and attacked him once more, necessitating another visit to the ER.

“It’s apparent he had endured significant trauma prior to us adopting him and probably had some neurological issues, where something just snapped and he turned into an absolute aggressor,” Lowe said regarding Moose, adding that he does not “hold any grudges” against the dog.

Shannon Beador’s dog, Archie, was bitten by another dog during a recent outing. “Archie was bitten by another dog while we were out for a walk today,” the Real Housewives of Orange County star, 60, shared alongside Instagram photos of Archie with his injured nose on Monday, June 10. “The dog was confined within his front patio, […]

Although Lowe mentioned he believes he will recover “psychologically,” he noted that the ordeal has taken a toll on his wife, who sat with him as he recounted the story to his Instagram audience.

“I’m incredibly thankful that it was me and not my children or my wife, and that I emerged relatively unharmed,” he stated. “I might have scarred arms for the rest of my life, but I’m okay with that.”

Lowe expressed how the incident made him “immensely grateful” for his family. “I often play this ‘what if’ scenario in my mind, considering that the smoke alarm triggered something in him. Moose adored the kids, and I keep wondering, ‘What if that smoke alarm had gone off while he was — he would sleep with the kids every night. What might he have done?’ I don’t have an answer, and I detest contemplating that ‘what if.’ So I’m just grateful for how things played out.”

Lowe ended by stating that both he and Catherine are “deeply affected” by what’s happened. “We miss our dog, as strange as it may seem. He was truly a wonderful dog, and we miss him.”

Lowe and Giudici, who married in 2014, had previously found a new home for their dog Gus in 2023.
