Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens Show Affection at the 2025 ESPY Awards

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens looked stunning at the 2025 ESPY Awards.

The Olympian, 28, and the NFL player, 29, made a grand entrance on the red carpet ahead of the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 16.

They were clearly aiming to dazzle, with Biles stunning in a custom Athleta purple floor-length gown designed by Zac Posen, which sparkled beautifully. She styled her hair in a wavy lob and complemented her look with dangling earrings and a diamond bracelet. Owens matched her elegance in black slacks and an open black shirt that showcased his bare chest, adding a chic white blazer to complete his outfit.

As they walked the carpet, the newlyweds, who married in April 2023, were spotted sharing sweet kisses while posing for photographers.

Biles is nominated for Best Athlete – Women’s Sports and Best Championship Performance for her remarkable performance at the 2024 Olympics in the women’s all-around gymnastics event.

Meanwhile, Biles and Owens are enjoying the NFL offseason, with Owens preparing to play as a safety for the Chicago Bears later this year. Following the end of the previous season in February, the couple finally took their long-awaited honeymoon to South Africa after postponing the trip for two years due to their busy schedules.

Their demanding careers also delayed their move into their dream home in Biles’ hometown of Houston. In November 2024, she shared insights about the construction process.

“At this point, since we’ve waited so long for it to be built, we’ll just wait until after the [NFL] season to move in,” she told Us Weekly at that time. “Currently, they’re working on the backyard. Jonathan wanted a half-basketball court and a barbecue pit, all the good amenities. We also included an in-ground trampoline and a pool.”

She added, “We should be closing soon. I’ll go check on it again in two weeks to see the progress. We’re really almost there.”

Although Biles and Owens enjoyed high-profile appearances at the 2025 Kentucky Derby and the 2025 Met Gala in May, they briefly stepped back from the limelight following her highly publicized dispute with former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines regarding transgender athletes.

In June, Gaines, 25, claimed that a championship-winning Minnesota high school softball team’s “star player is a boy,” prompting Biles to respond on X, “You should uplift the trans community and consider making sports inclusive or creating safe spaces for trans individuals in sports.”

Biles later told Gaines to “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.” This led Gaines to accuse Biles of body-shaming.

Eventually, Biles publicly apologized to Gaines, stating in an extensive post on X, “I’ve always believed that competitive equity and inclusivity are essential in sports. The current system doesn’t sufficiently balance these vital principles, leading to frustration and heated discussions, and I regret getting personal with Riley. These issues are sensitive and complex, and while I don’t have all the answers, I believe it begins with empathy and respect.”

Owens expressed his support for Biles through Instagram, reposting her apology with three heart emojis.

After taking a break from social media, Biles returned to Instagram this month to share photos from her and Owens’ vacation in Belize.
