NBA’s Anthony Edwards Enters New Child Support Legal Dispute
Anthony Edwards is facing yet another paternity lawsuit.
On April 21, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly, Alexandria Desroches filed a joint petition for custody, child support, and a declaration of paternity against her former partner — 23-year-old Edwards — in New York. The documents allege that the NBA player is the biological father of a child born in October 2023.
InTouch Weekly previously reported that Desroches, 26, initially filed a child support and paternity petition against Edwards in New York on March 13. Shortly thereafter, on March 21, Edwards submitted his own petition against Desroches in Georgia, asserting that their child was “conceived and born in Georgia” and that “all interactions between [Anthony] and [Alexandria] occurred in Georgia.”
Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Edwards for comment.
“She is raising a child as a single mother and has an open-door policy for [Anthony] to see the child,” stated Desroches’ attorney Al Hedayati to InTouch in April.
Desroches’ filing on April 21 notes that a prior paternity action initiated by Edwards in Gwinnett County, Georgia, had been “dismissed or otherwise terminated,” while “a new paternity action for child support” was filed in Fulton County. She is requesting that the case be heard in New York, where she and their son currently live.
Additionally, Desroches claims that Edwards has “admitted to the paternity” of their child and has provided her with “limited child support,” although the documents state that Edwards has offered “some financial assistance.” Among her requests, Desroches asks that Edwards cover childcare expenses, insurance, and reimburse her for pre- and post-natal care.
Included in her filing is a request for a legal determination of Edwards as the father of the child. The documents also assert that the child was conceived by the couple in Minnesota in February 2023.
Edwards is currently involved in another paternity case with ex Ayesha Howard. (The couple welcomed their daughter, Aubri Summers, in October 2024.) Edwards filed a paternity suit the month Aubri was born, seeking a DNA test through a “neutral and licensed laboratory.” Court documents indicate that Edwards was “not pursuing child custody or visitation of Aubri,” emphasizing that “the only issues to be resolved [were] financial in nature.”
Documents obtained by Us in March revealed that Edwards was biologically confirmed as Aubri’s father, with Howard granted temporary sole and legal custody in April. Edwards has requested a hearing in Georgia to establish his child support obligations.
