Son of Jeff Sperbeck Pays Tribute to Late Father Following Tragic Golf Cart Accident
The son of NFL icon John Elway’s longtime friend and agent, Jeff Sperbeck, has come forward with heartfelt words following his father’s passing.
Sperbeck, aged 62, tragically passed away in April after a fall from a golf cart driven by Elway, 64, at the Madison Club in La Quinta, California.
Jackson, Sperbeck’s son, honored his father on Instagram on Sunday, May 18, sharing a collection of cherished moments, including a touching photo of Sperbeck with Jackson on his shoulders as a child. Other images depicted Sperbeck enjoying family gatherings and indulging in ice cream with his kids.
“Your footsteps guided my way. I will continue this journey with purpose,” Jackson wrote in the post. “I love you, Dad.”
Sperbeck is survived by his wife, Cori, and their three children: Sam, Carly, and Jackson.
Earlier this month, TMZ reported that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office ruled Sperbeck’s cause of death as blunt head trauma, confirming it as an accident.
“I am utterly heartbroken by the loss of my dear friend, business associate, and agent Jeff Sperbeck,” Elway remarked in an April 30 statement. “No words can truly convey the depth of sadness I feel from the sudden departure of someone who has meant so much to me.”
He added, “My condolences and deepest sympathies extend to Jeff’s wife, Cori; his children Carly, Sam, and Jackson; and everyone whose lives he touched. Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship, and love he brought into my life and the lives of many others.”
The Sperbeck family also released a statement regarding the loss of their beloved member that same day.
“It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our cherished Jeff Sperbeck. He was an exceptional father, husband, brother, son, and friend to many, and his absence will be deeply felt,” the family stated. “As we navigate this unimaginable loss, we are supported by our closest friends, including the Elways, and the many clients Jeff considered friends.”
The family expressed their gratitude for the immense support they have received from the public but requested privacy during this difficult time.
Elway’s relationship with Sperbeck dates back to 1990, just seven years into the quarterback’s NFL journey. They became close friends throughout Elway’s career and co-founded the wine brand 7Cellars in 2015.
