The Relationship Journey of Comedian Nikki Glaser and Boyfriend Chris Convy

Comedian Nikki Glaser and her partner, Chris Convy, have experienced a tumultuous relationship over the past decade.

“The off-and-on nature of our relationship is primarily due to my fear of long-term commitment,” Glaser shared during a May 2024 appearance on the Howard Stern Show. “The thought of committing forever conjures up images of no other adventures, almost as if it’s accepting defeat. It feels like settling.”

Glaser noted that she and Convy have ended their relationship “approximately five times in 10 years.”

“Our breakups have ranged from a couple of days to a stretch of three years,” she reminisced. “In the early days, I was so eager for a boyfriend that I didn’t authentically represent myself.”

Prior to hosting the 2026 Golden Globes, Glaser had Convy’s unwavering support as they made their grand entrance on the red carpet.

Glaser and Convy first crossed paths while filming her MTV series, Nikki & Sara Live.

“It was my debut TV show, and he was a producer from my hometown, St. Louis,” Glaser recalled during an October 2022 interview on In Depth With Graham Bensinger. “I had just quit drinking a year prior and wanted to steer clear of people who were heavy drinkers.”

At first, Glaser found Convy appealing but thought he was “too fun.”

“It was like a party atmosphere when we met,” she remarked. “He was dancing, smiling, and I thought, ‘He must be drunk to act that way.’ So I dismissed him, thinking, ‘Not for me.’”

Once she learned Convy was also sober, her feelings shifted, and she developed a “crush.”

“I had this secret crush on him for quite some time, which was exhilarating as I was continually longing for him,” she joked. “It was a Jim and Pam situation [from The Office]. I was Jim, and he was oblivious. He was my first real boyfriend.”

Glaser previously revealed in an interview with Us Weekly that she had her first boyfriend at 24.

Convy continued his role as Glaser’s producer on her one-season show Not Safe With Nikki Glaser on Comedy Central. Around the same time the show was canceled, they parted ways.

During the pandemic, Glaser returned to St. Louis and pitched her docuseries Welcome Home Nikki Glaser to the E! network. Initially envisioned as a dating show, she soon rekindled her relationship with Convy off-camera.

“I wanted to date someone who would appear on the show with me,” she told Graham Bensinger in 2022, adding how she approached Convy. “I can keep seeing you privately, but I need to be open about my dating life on the show, unless you want to be part of it, and he agreed.”

Glaser described Convy’s acceptance of their public relationship as a “turning point,” illustrating his affection for her.

“He was willing to share this experience together, which meant a lot to me,” she elaborated. “It encouraged me to make more time for him despite my apprehensions.”

In her conversation with Bensinger, Glaser confirmed that she and Convy had a brief split that September.

“Last month felt like a ‘do-or-die’ moment where we had to ask, ‘What’s next for us?’” she noted. “We never discussed marriage, as we got together when we both wanted to avoid that. But now, with him in his 40s and me in my late 30s, we need to reconsider our priorities and goals.”

Glaser provided further insights into their relationship on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, highlighting how past breakups stemmed from her podcast confessions.

“It wasn’t that I thought he wouldn’t hear them; they just came out under the guise of ‘it’s comedy!’” she explained. “When he finally heard them, he expressed, ‘I don’t recognize this person!’ … He had every right to end things because he felt blindsided by my honesty. He encouraged me to be more truthful, and I’m working on it, though I still worry about abandonment, which complicates our relationship.”

In a June interview with People, Glaser discussed the challenges of incorporating her relationship into her standup routines.

“The toughest part is addressing relationship issues on stage before discussing them with him. That’s where tension might come from, but it’s not really a problem now,” she noted, emphasizing that Convy is “super cool” and has “granted [her] permission” to include him in her comedy.

“He mentioned, ‘You can joke about me as long as it’s humorous. If it bombs, we’ll have a problem,’” Glaser continued. “He’s said, ‘If you’re just venting on stage, that’s not okay. But if you’re crafting something funny, go for it.’”

Months later, Glaser made light of Convy during her Saturday Night Live monologue, quipping in October, “I do date a short guy.”

“He’s shorter than me, but he’s really attractive. Honestly, that’s why I scored him; you’d never catch that face on someone taller. To get a 10 in looks, you need to go [5-foot-7] in height. That’s the hack,” she joked. “It’s like getting a hot guy on sale. I found my boyfriend in the bargain bin at TJ Maxx.”

Glaser added, “It’s wild because I post pictures of us online and get comments like, ‘He’s hot! How did you end up with him?’ But when you zoom out, you’d see he’s sitting on my lap. He’s small! I was definitely digging in the discount section, ladies.”

Before bringing the laughs to The Beverly Hilton as the host of the 2026 Golden Globes, Glaser strolled the red carpet with Convy.

Convy opted for a classic suit and bow tie, while Glaser brightened the event in a pink dress, holding hands with her boyfriend as they posed for photos.
