Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton Announce They’re Expecting Baby No. 2
Zawe Ashton is expecting her second child with fiancé Tom Hiddleston.
Ashton, 40, announced the joyful news to Vogue on Saturday, June 7, presenting beautiful maternity photos to the publication. The actress showcased her baby bump at the premiere of The Life of Chuck during the SXSW London festival that evening, wearing a stunning blue ruffled gown by Emilia Wickstead, complete with a matching cape.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to be working with someone I know who has been such a supporter of me during this delicate red-carpet moment,” Ashton reflected on her maternity style. “It’s comforting to feel so supported on an evening when, as an expectant mother, you can feel quite vulnerable.”
She further stated, “Every time you step onto a red carpet, it presents a unique possibility to express your true self, your individuality, and your creativity, while celebrating your current state.”
Ashton has been an admirer of Wickstead’s creations for quite some time.
“We met years ago at the British Fashion Awards when she styled me and we attended together,” Ashton excitedly recounted. “We had such a fabulous evening and immediately felt a connection. We share similar views on fashion and womanhood, and I’ve always adored her designs. They perfectly blend classic and modern, and you can truly feel the craftsmanship in every piece when you wear them.”
Wickstead, 42, mentioned to Vogue that designing a bump-hugging gown for Ashton is “especially meaningful and feels full circle.”
“Zawe wore a soft pink gown from us during her previous pregnancy — quietly glowing, with a little secret only she knew,” the British designer elaborated. “Now, celebrating her second pregnancy in this stunning blue from our pre-fall collection, and sharing it with the world feels like a lovely continuation of that story. I’m honored to be a part of it.”
She added, “Zawe is such a vibrant, intelligent, and special friend and muse for the brand—she’s been wearing Emilia Wickstead for years, and I love being part of her journey.”
Ashton and Hiddleston, 44, have been engaged since 2022 and welcomed their first child the same year.
“Tom and Zawe are thrilled to be new parents and are full of joy,” a source exclusively informed Us Weekly at that time. “They’re experiencing the challenges of new parenthood and not getting much sleep, but they couldn’t be happier.”
The two Marvel stars have chosen not to publicly disclose their first child’s sex or gender, but they have mentioned how parenthood has significantly altered their perspective on life.
“I think I knew it would change things, but I could never have anticipated how profound that change would be until it actually happened. It’s a definitive before and after,” Hiddleston shared on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast in November 2023.
