What is ‘Paradise’ about?
“Paradise” consists of eight episodes and features a dramatic thriller plot revolving around Special Agent Xavier Collins (Brown), who is assigned to safeguard former President Cal Bradford (Marsden).
In the premiere, it is revealed that Bradford has been murdered, leading Collins, a single father of two, to become the primary suspect in the case.
As the investigation into the president’s assassination unfolds, viewers are shown flashbacks detailing Collins’ selection by President Bradford for his security detail, showcasing the evolution of their intricate relationship over the years—including Collins taking a bullet for Bradford and a heated argument shortly before the president’s demise.
What is the plot twist in Episode 1 of ‘Paradise’?
The season opener hints at future events as Special Agent Collins chats with his neighbor Carl, casually remarking, “A little chilly this morning, huh?”
Carl responds, “It’ll warm up soon,” and Collins follows up with, “Always does.”
This seemingly innocuous exchange subtly suggests that events in their town adhere to a strict timeline.
By the end of the premiere, viewers piece together clues during a flashback featuring General Curtleigh (Scott Lawrence), who informs Collins that he will be exposed to highly classified information.
“We are preparing for a massive catastrophe that could result in an extinction-level event for humanity in the very near, very real future,” the general tells Collins in the Oval Office. “In response, we have begun constructing a facility underneath a mountain in Colorado.”
He explains that upon completion, this will serve as humanity’s last chance for survival and will become “the world’s largest underground city.”
Meanwhile, Collins is seen navigating a picturesque town equipped with advanced technology and artificial ducks, with a sign indicating that dawn has been postponed by two hours.
The episode concludes with Collins gazing skyward, revealing to viewers that he is already residing in the underground bunker.
When does ‘Paradise’ air?
The second and third episodes delve deeper into the background of tech billionaire Samantha “Sinatra” Redmond’s (Julianne Nicholson) character. They also depict Collins being interrogated following the discovery of Bradford’s body.
As a formal investigation commences, Collins is portrayed seeking answers regarding the president’s death, consulting his therapist Dr. Gabriel Torabi (Sarah Shahi) and others who might provide insights.
The series promises to introduce additional twists and unveil further secrets as it progresses. New episodes of “Paradise” are set to release weekly on Tuesdays via Hulu. Episodes are also planned to air on ABC and FX. Be sure to check your local listings.
