Where Are They Now? The Cast of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was not only captivating — the show also pioneered numerous aspects in television.
The supernatural series featured Sarah Michelle Gellar as the adolescent vampire slayer Buffy Summers, alongside a talented cast that included Alyson Hannigan, David Boreanaz, Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Stewart Head, James Marsters, Michelle Trachtenberg, and many others.
Created by Joss Whedon, the series was inspired by the 1992 film sharing the same name and aired for seven seasons on The WB and UPN from 1997 to 2003. Its immense success eventually led to the spinoff series Angel, featuring Boreanaz for five seasons.
Buffy received acclaim for its portrayal of a formidable feminist protagonist and highlighted an LGBTQ relationship between Hannigan’s Willow Rosenberg and Amber Benson’s Tara Maclay.
Nevertheless, the show faced controversy in February 2021 when Charisma Carpenter, who portrayed Cordelia Chase, accused Whedon of fostering a toxic work atmosphere on set. Whedon has not publicly responded to these claims.
