Kim Zolciak Discusses Borrowing Money from Ariana and Brielle
The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kim Zolciak explained why she borrowed money from her daughters Ariana and Brielle Biermann, as well as whether she has repaid them.
During the premiere of Bravo’s Next Gen NYC in June, Ariana, 23, alleged that her mother and estranged father, Kroy Biermann, “took my money” after she began earning substantial income through Instagram brand deals as a teenager.
“I can’t specify what they spent it on because I just found out two years later that it was gone,” Ariana mentioned in a confessional. “I don’t even know how much I earned during that time. There was a lack of honesty and transparency, and I have no clue where the money actually went.”
Kim, 47, appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Thursday, July 31, where she was questioned about the amount she took from Ariana and what it was spent on. (Ariana and her boyfriend, Hudson McLeroy, were in the studio audience.)
“The situation really changed for the Zolciaks, and Ariana’s money was spent on bills, to be honest. I was left with the aftermath,” Kim told host Andy Cohen.
When Cohen inquired if Kim had also borrowed money from Brielle, 28, she replied, “Brielle helped with an electric bill once in a while. I was left with nothing, so I had to sort things out quickly.”
“The money I borrowed from Ariana, I paid her back… for the bills and everything. Regarding her earnings, I don’t have the details, but she will be fully compensated,” Kim continued.
During her own WWHL appearance in June, Ariana elaborated on the financial support she provided to her parents during their divorce.

“I would like to clarify. Everyone assumes this is solely my mother’s doing. This was a joint effort in accessing the funds,” Ariana stated.
When asked if she had “calculated how much money” her parents took from her, Ariana responded, “No, and honestly, I don’t want to.” She added that “the only time my mom asks me for money is when it’s for bills or essentials for the kids.” (Kim and Kroy, 39, also have sons Kroy Jr., 14, and Kash, 12, along with twins Kaia and Kane, 11.)
Despite the tension surrounding her parents’ finances, Ariana mentioned that she had “reconciled” with her mother.
“Nobody wants to face these situations. My mom, regardless of everything, will always be my best friend,” Ariana expressed. “Money should never compromise family relationships. You can always earn more, and I’m grateful for what I have—my mom, and that’s what matters most.”
