Where Are They Now? Updates on the Cast of ‘Girls Next Door’
Although it has been more than ten years since The Girls Next Door first debuted on E!, its legacy continues to resonate.
The Girls Next Door aired for six seasons from 2005 to 2010, offering viewers an intimate glimpse into the colorful lives of the late Hugh Hefner’s primary girlfriends: Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt, and Kendra Wilkinson. However, the show’s final season shifted the spotlight to Hefner’s new partners: Crystal Hefner and twins Kristina Shannon and Karissa Shannon. Hugh and Crystal got married in 2012 and remained together until Hefner’s passing in 2017.
Despite the seemingly glamorous lifestyle depicted on the show, some former residents of the Playboy Mansion have revealed that their experiences were far from ideal.
“Living in the mansion wasn’t the fairy tale I once envisioned,” Crystal wrote in her January 2024 memoir, Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself. “On the outside, it appeared to have all the elements of a fairy tale. But it wasn’t, and everyone who lived there was aware of that.”
In her book, Crystal also divulged the various “unspoken rules” that came with living in the Playboy Mansion, such as the necessity to constantly adore Hugh and the pressure on the women to undergo plastic surgery, which she claimed created a sense of competition among the residents.
“It was unspoken but unmistakably clear that there was no alternative if I wanted to remain,” she explained.
