The McBee Dynasty Cast Discusses Steve McBee’s FBI Investigation
The McBee Dynasty’s Steven “Steve” McBee Sr. stepped back from the Bravo series during its second season, later disclosing that an FBI investigation was the cause.
As a result, his sons—Steven McBee Jr., Jesse McBee, Cole McBee, and Brayden McBee—took over his duties on their family farm in Missouri and led their reality show.
Before the season 2 premiere in June, Steve pleaded guilty to a count of federal crop insurance fraud in November 2024, admitting that he had falsified crop yield reports for 2018.
While fans were aware of his FBI situation prior to the show’s airing, only his eldest son, Steven, knew the details during filming. He revealed the investigation to Jesse and Cole during the season 2 finale in September 2025.
“I’m definitely scared,” Cole confessed on camera.
Jesse, on the other hand, expressed, “My dad is 51. He’s getting older. The thought of him going to jail really scares me.”
While Steve awaits sentencing in November, his family has discussed his legal issues openly, both on The McBee Dynasty and off screen.

Steven McBee Jr.
“We’ve focused on family. We take it one day at a time,” Steven exclusively shared with Us Weekly in July 2025. “This situation is ongoing. We hope to resolve it by year’s end to finally say, ‘Alright, we’ve sorted this out. We can move on now.’”
During the season 2 finale, which aired in September 2025, Steven opened up about the strain both he and his father have experienced due to the legal troubles.
“For a year, we’ve been in talks with the government,” Steven noted on the episode, adding, “Our dad is under the most intense pressure I’ve ever seen. It’s clearly taking a toll on him. I’m uncertain what the outcome will be.”
Jesse McBee
“It was shocking to see the burden that Steven was carrying,” Jesse exclusively told Us in July 2025, explaining that he discovered his dad’s FBI troubles on camera. “It clarified a lot; we thought we understood his stress, yet he was holding back so much.”
The following month, Jesse mentioned to Us that he and Cole “wished” Steven would have confided in them “earlier” to help share the burden, yet he understood why Steven chose to keep it private for so long.
“He gave us the details of almost the entire situation, and we talk daily with my dad about it,” Jesse elaborated. “We’re discussing how to move forward.”
“At the end of the day, we remain family and support each other fully,” he asserted, noting that in Steve’s absence, the brothers have stepped up. Jesse announced he is in charge of construction, Steven is still the CEO and overseeing their meat business, while Cole manages the farming side.
Cole McBee
After discovering about Steve’s FBI investigation during the September 2025 finale, Cole expressed, “A part of me is terrified right now. This is the hardest situation I’ve ever faced.”
When Cole and his girlfriend, Kacie Adkison, welcomed their daughter, Blair, in December 2024—which was featured in the season 2 finale—he reflected on his dad’s struggles. “We’re dealing with a lot of tough issues, but holding Blair makes it all fade away,” Cole said, tearfully.
He later admitted, “It’s heartbreaking to see someone who has worked so hard their whole life have everything change because of one mistake.”
Calah Jackson
Calah, who was in an on-and-off relationship with Steven from 2021 to 2024, revealed in an August 2025 episode of The McBee Dynasty that she was aware of Steve’s FBI investigation.
“Steven informed me that Steve was being investigated by the FBI,” she disclosed after a day out with then-boyfriend Steven in the Ozarks. “I believe he was trying to keep me from discussing it with his family.” (Steven and Calah ended their relationship at the conclusion of 2024 amid filming season 2.)
Calah hinted that there were more issues brewing within the family. “I have so many secrets about this family. If I wanted to, I could expose them. Trust me, there are things they would prefer to keep hidden. One may emerge very soon.”
In August 2025, Calah clarified to Us that she never intended to disclose Steve’s FBI issues, but rather was trying to “defend” herself during a dispute with Steven and his brothers.
Reflecting on the past, Calah said she felt Steven confided in her about the FBI matters because she was someone to lean on during a tough time. She revealed she learned of Steve’s troubles “about six months before anyone else.”
Kristi McBee
Steve’s ex-wife and mother of his four sons was aware of the investigation from the moment Steven was informed. However, Kristi has remained quiet on the scandal, focusing instead on how it has impacted her eldest son.
“Steven is really struggling to see the positives right now,” she said during the September 2025 finale, adding, “We have no idea what will happen to Steve. We’re uncertain about the future.”
