How the Age Gap Between Georgie and Mandy Impacts Their Marriage in Season 2
Emily Osment and Montana Jordan‘s characters in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage have encountered challenges in their relationship due to their age difference — but what’s in store for them in season 2?
At the Warner Bros. Television Group’s Emmy Party on September 13, Jordan, 22, humorously remarked about the age gap, exclusively sharing with Us Weekly, “Age ain’t nothing but a number, baby. I don’t even know how that song goes.”
Jordan and his co-star Jessie Prez mentioned they are often in the dark about the storyline’s direction.
“I don’t want to know when [Georgie and Mandy] break up just yet. I prefer surprises,” Prez added. “It’s interesting; we usually receive the scripts right before filming. We never really know what’s happening.”
Jordan remarked on the frequent last-minute changes, saying, “The reason for that is that the scripts change daily. They don’t want us memorizing one version of the script. It changes every day.”
For fans needing a refresher, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage picks up where Young Sheldon concluded with its title characters. After their initial meeting in season 5 of The Big Bang Theory prequel, Georgie (Jordan), who was 17 at the time, claimed he was 21, while 29-year-old Mandy (Osment) pretended to be 25. They eventually disclosed their true ages — and discovered they were expecting their first child.
Considering the show’s title, viewers speculated about the couple’s longevity. (Notably, past episodes of The Big Bang Theory revealed Georgie had two ex-wives and operates the largest tire-selling chain in Texas, highlighted in the season 1 finale when he purchased McAllister Auto and Tire.)
“We all know there’s an inevitable breakup down the line. As the title suggests, [this is] the first marriage,” Jordan shared with Us in October 2024. “But whether we will learn about [a] second marriage or a third marriage [is debatable].”
Jordan emphasized that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has embraced uncertainty.
“The storyline posits that Georgie gets married and divorced a couple of times. But we’re not sure beyond that. We don’t know if it’s with Mandy or someone else,” he mentioned. “As an actor on the show, I have no insights. I’m not even sure if the writers do. We’re all just rolling with it and seeing what resonates with the audience.”
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage returns to CBS on Thursday, October 16, at 8 p.m. ET, with episodes currently available on Paramount+.
