Meet Maggie Baugh: Who Is Keith Urban’s Guitarist?

Emerging country music talent Maggie Baugh celebrated a significant professional achievement as a touring guitarist for Keith Urban in 2025.

The singer-songwriter, who runs her own TikTok music series, Finish the Lick, received an onstage tribute from Urban during their High and Alive World Tour in September 2025. A video that gained attention following Urban’s separation from wife Nicole Kidman showed him altering the lyrics of his hit “The Fighter” to mention Baugh.

Urban changed the lyrics from “when they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter” to “when they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player” at one of his concerts.

Baugh posted the clip on Instagram, along with the caption: “Did he just say that👀.”

Amid speculation that Maggie influenced the end of Urban’s marriage to Kidman, her father, Chuck Baugh, addressed the rumors on social media.

On October 1, 2025, Chuck took to Facebook to share a TikTok video claiming that his daughter may “allegedly [be] the person responsible for Keith’s divorce from Nicole Kidman.” (Us Weekly confirmed that Kidman filed for divorce on September 30.)

Chuck commented on the video, “NO. Just No.”

In addition to her relationship with Urban, Baugh has been featured on Spotify and Apple Music’s lists of up-and-coming country artists and has performed at the renowned Grand Ole Opry.

Continue reading for five key facts about Baugh:

1. Maggie Baugh Was Classically Trained

Baugh began singing at 12 and was trained in classical violin before her parents encouraged her to pursue country music.

“I started going to Nashville when I was 13 and began songwriting around that same age,” Baugh told The Hamilton County Reporter in September 2025. “I released my first record when I was just 13.”

The artist shared that she was already touring “larger venues” in Florida during the festival season at a young age.

“At 18, I moved to Nashville and started touring heavily,” she reflected. “Last year, I was on tour with Keith Urban, and it’s been an incredible journey.”

Unlike many of her peers, Baugh lacked family connections in the music industry to assist her early career.

“Nobody in my family plays music,” Baugh remarked. “I’m literally the only one. Isn’t that wild? My dad is a microbiologist, and my mom is a stay-at-home mom who runs a dog training business on the side.”

2. Maggie Baugh Hosts a Popular TikTok Series

Baugh launched her TikTok series Finish the Lick in 2022, where she’s challenged by friends or fellow artists to complete signature guitar riffs from well-known songs.

In an interview with Up N Country in 2022, Baugh confessed that she hesitated to join TikTok, feeling like an “old soul” despite being born in 2000.

“I didn’t really find my niche on TikTok until literally a month ago,” she recalled. “I did a few guitar videos here and there, and some of them gained traction. But I only had about 20,000 followers at the time. So, a month ago, I thought, ‘I want to create this series called Finish the Lick.’”

The concept for her TikTok series originated as a variation of the popular “Finish the Lyric” trend, which she felt had become “overdone.”

“I was thinking, ‘What can I do that’s different?’ One night while jamming in my room, I hit upon ‘finish the lick’ as an idea,” she remembered. “I thought it’d be great because I could showcase my instruments, not just my vocals. I rushed over to my neighbor to ask for help filming a few videos, and the first ones were us messing around in my bedroom. It was such a blast, and it took off, gaining me 80,000 followers in less than a month.”

3. Her Breakthrough Single Addresses Mental Health

Building on her TikTok success, Baugh released her debut album, Dear Me, in October 2023. As noted on her website, the album landed her on Spotify’s “Next From Nashville” and “New Music Friday Country” lists as well as on Apple Music’s “New in Country” and “Fresh From Nashville” playlists. Her tracks were also highlighted on Amazon Music’s “Breakthrough Pop” and “Breakthrough Country” selections.

Baugh shared with Today’s Country Magazine that the title track, “Dear Me,” reflects her real-life experience of severe bullying in middle school.

“I was at a low point and almost took my own life,” she recounted. “Instead, I turned my feelings and depression into songwriting. I used music as an escape, which eventually led to my becoming an artist. Rather than leveraging my story for fame, I chose to focus on hard work and creating the music I wanted.”

“Now, nearly a decade later, I’m ready to share my story, and what better way to do that than through the title track of my debut album? Releasing it in Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, the ‘Dear Me’ music video concludes with a message from the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention, which I am honored to support.”

Baugh collaborated with songwriters Elena Jones and Tyler Bank on “Dear Me” to explore her ongoing mental health journey.

“Writing ‘Dear Me’ was a mental exercise. I had to revisit the mindset of a 12-year-old girl who questioned her worth daily,” she shared. “I’m immensely grateful to Tyler and Elena for transforming my tears and story into a song. It takes a unique connection to open up about a narrative like mine; their patience and understanding make them two of my favorite collaborators. I believe ‘Dear Me’ was meant to be created that day.”

4. She’s Building Her Reputation in Country Music

Baugh has utilized the success of Dear Me and her TikTok fame to boost her media visibility. Over the past few years, she has appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, NBC’s Today, and late-night shows hosted by Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.

After performing at both the Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry, Baugh announced her first headlining shows as part of the Entertainers Heart World Tour in 2025.

Her second studio album is expected to be released later in 2025 as well.

5. She Was Invited by Keith Urban to Join His Touring Band

Baugh revealed to Pittsburgh Music Magazine that Urban first invited her to perform with him at the CMT Music Awards in 2024. She made such an impression on the “Stupid Boy” artist that he quickly welcomed her into his touring band as well.

“Collaborating with [Urban] felt like attending rock star school. He is a musical expert,” she remarked.

In September 2025, she shared a vlog documenting her experiences performing with Urban during his High and Alive World Tour.

While navigating through an airport with her luggage, Baugh joked: “No one here knows I performed for 21,000 people yesterday with Keith Urban. … Someone pinch me… this has been a dream!”

Following the resurfacing of the footage where Urban changed a lyric in “The Fighter” amidst his divorce from Kidman, he performed at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on October 3, 2025 — his first show since the news broke. Baugh was not present for this performance, with Urban’s other guitarist Natalie Stovall stepping in. They did not perform “The Fighter.”
