Indy Clinton Reschedules Child’s Birthday Celebration to Avoid Clashing with Christmas
Influencer Indy Clinton is discussing her choice to change her daughter’s birthday since it was too near to Christmas.
“I was going to ask you all for your opinion on something, but I’ve already made my decision, so I might as well just share it because your input isn’t necessary. I just want to inform you of my choice as a mother. It made me wonder, ‘Why don’t more people do this?’ because I genuinely can’t think of any reasons why it would be negative,” Clinton mentioned in a TikTok video on Tuesday, December 2. Watch here.
Clinton, a mother of three, shared that she has opted to change her youngest child’s birthday to December 12. (She welcomed her daughter, Soul, on December 18, 2023, and has a son, Navy, and a daughter, Bambi, born in 2020 and 2022, respectively.)
“It was just too close to Christmas for my taste, and I figured, moving forward, she’ll never know we’ve officially changed it,” Clinton stated, adding, “If you see this, can you thank me? Because I’ve done this for attention reasons.”
@indyclinton If you were born close to Christmas and your parents weren’t as forward-thinking as I am, I’m really sorry
Clinton’s comments might have been made in jest, as the Australian Taxation Office states that changing one’s birthday legally in the country is only permissible to correct an error.
“She wasn’t born on that date, but honestly, who needs to know? I know she made her entrance on that day, but it’s not essential for anyone else to know,” she remarked. “Truly, I can’t see any reason why this would be a bad idea. Why aren’t more people doing this? Am I crazy? No, I think I’m simply clever, and it appears nobody else has considered it.”
Leaning closer to the camera, Clinton added, “I just didn’t want your attention to be diverted. You’re welcome.”
“If you were born close to Christmas and your parents didn’t think ahead like me, I’m truly sorry,” she captioned the clip.
Users flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts, with opinions split on whether she should change the date or not.
“My birthday is on the 24th of Dec; I remember waking up to a completely hidden Christmas in my parents’ room. We celebrated my birthday, then at about 4 PM, the Christmas decor came out, and we switched to Christmas! I treasure those memories. I, too, am the third child! Don’t change the date; learn to adapt for the day,” one user shared.
Another commented, “Do not do this, Indy. She will have to fill out official documents when she’s older and not know her real birthday.”
However, many others seemed to support Clinton’s choice to officially change her little one’s birthday.
“As someone born in December (the 15th), I think the 12th is still too close. From my own experience, if you’re going to change it, push it all the way back to November,” one user expressed, while another chimed in, “I relate! As a 32-year-old woman, I changed my birthday from December 30th to the middle of the year… not crazy!”
Clinton’s video comes just days after she responded to a user who claimed she “looked cracked out” at the TikTok awards, addressing the comment as “untrue.”
