Sandra Bullock Offers a Rare Look at Her Two Kids on Mother’s Day
Sandra Bullock gave a rare glimpse into her life as a mother while honoring Mother’s Day.
“To all the mamas, no matter how you came to be, Happy Mother’s Day,” Bullock, 61, shared in an Instagram post on Sunday, May 10. “We are all connected by this remarkable honor.”
The actress posted a nostalgic picture with her children, Louis, now 16, and Laila, now 11, whom she adopted as infants.
“Mom and Omi, thank you for your teachings. We miss you,” Bullock wrapped up her caption, paying tribute to her own family. “Sorry I was such a brat.”
This heartfelt tribute to her kids and family marked the actress’ fifth Instagram post since she joined the platform last month.
Bullock typically keeps her personal life private, having recently opened up about her journey to motherhood on an episode of “Red Table Talk” in 2022.
“I don’t know why that was the only path, but I’m grateful the universe made me wait,” she reflected on adopting her two children. “It required patience, even when I was anxious and eager — and it went, ‘Nope, you’re not going to do it the way you envision.’”
In that same interview, Bullock shared her biggest concern regarding raising Louis.
“As Lou grows into a young Black man, there will come a time when sweet, funny Lou will become a young man,” Bullock articulated. “And once he steps out of my home, I can’t follow him everywhere, though I would if I could … I pray and pray that I’ve done a sufficient job.”
Bullock adopted son Louis in 2010 and welcomed Laila into the family in 2015.
“When Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, I felt — something told me my child was there. It was uncanny,” Bullock discussed on Today in 2018, reflecting on her choice to adopt Louis. “He’s just perfect; I can’t describe him any other way. It’s as if he has always been a part of us.”
Bullock had similar feelings regarding her daughter’s adoption.
“There’s no doubt that she was meant to be here,” Bullock told People in 2015.
The actress further elaborated on her daughter’s ambition during a past interview with InStyle.
“Oh my God, what she is going to accomplish,” Bullock expressed in 2018. “She’s going to effect real change.”
