Police Investigate Nick Reiner’s Hotel Room for Potential Murder Weapon
Los Angeles police reportedly visited Nick Reiner’s hotel room in an effort to collect more evidence.
As per TMZ, an LAPD robbery-homicide detective arrived at The Pierside Santa Monica hotel in the early morning of December 15 and informed the front desk clerk that he was there to examine Nick’s room.
The detective expressed concern that Nick may have disposed of a weapon related to a violent crime, according to TMZ.
Hotel staff escorted the detective to Nick’s room to search for a weapon, blood, and other potential evidence.
TMZ reports that police suspected Nick had “cleaned up” and “disposed of evidence” at the hotel after he checked in at 4:15 a.m. on December 14.
Us Weekly has reached out to Los Angeles police for comments.
Nick’s parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, were discovered stabbed to death at their home in Brentwood, California, on Sunday afternoon, located less than five miles from The Pierside Santa Monica hotel.
The following day, it was reported that Nick was arrested on a murder charge. Police later announced that the 32-year-old was taken into custody on Sunday evening around 9:15 p.m. local time.
On December 16, Los Angeles district attorney Nathan Hochman disclosed in a press conference that Nick faces two counts of first-degree murder.
He is facing life in prison without parole or the possibility of the death penalty. Notable attorney Alan Jackson, known for representing Karen Read, has been hired for his defense.
Although Nick appeared in court for the first time on December 17, he did not enter a plea, with Jackson stating that it was “too early” for that. Nick’s arraignment has been postponed until January 7, 2026.
“This is a devastating tragedy that has struck the Reiner family,” Jackson remarked to reporters outside the courthouse. “We acknowledge the heartfelt sorrow we feel for the entire Reiner family. There are complex and serious issues surrounding this case that need thorough and careful examination.”
As the investigation into Rob and Michele’s deaths continues, family and friends are mourning the loss of a beloved Hollywood couple.
Rob and Michele’s children Jake and Romy Reiner spoke out regarding their parents’ tragic deaths on Wednesday. (Rob was also the father of Tracy Reiner, whose mother was Penny Marshall.)
“Words cannot express the unimaginable pain we feel every moment. The horrific loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something no one should endure,” the siblings shared in a statement via TMZ. “They were not just our parents; they were our best friends. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received from family, friends, and people from all walks of life.”
Rob and Michele’s children also requested privacy as Nick’s legal proceedings begin.
“We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for their incredible lives and the love they shared,” they concluded.
