As we enter 2026, Gen Z has begun to feel nostalgic for a decade past — a simpler time. According to BBC, TikTok searches for 2016 surged “452 percent” this past week, with users nationwide reminiscing about Snapchat filters, chokers, infinity scarves, vibrant lip colors, and various VSCO-approved styles.
Many celebrities joined the “2026 is the new 2016” movement, including Selena Gomez, Emily Ratajkowski, Karlie Kloss, and others. Influencer Ashtin Earle even referred to it as her “peak” year, while numerous fans expressed it was the “best time to be alive.” And we can’t overlook Kylie Jenner during her King Kylie phase.
