Presley Gerber’s Body Discovered During Death Investigation
Presley Gerber’s remains have been released following the completion of an autopsy.
As per online records reviewed by Us, the cause of Gerber’s death is currently categorized as “deferred,” with no estimated timeframe for the release of official results. At this moment, foul play is not suspected.
The Los Angeles Medical Examiner confirmed to Us on Monday, September 21, that further testing is required to reach a conclusion.
“The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner (DME) is in the preliminary phases of investigating the death of 27-year-old model Presley Gerber, and limited information is presently available,” the medical examiner’s office stated to Us on Monday. “A deputy medical examiner conducted an examination today, and the cause and manner of death are deferred, indicating that additional testing and/or studies have been requested to make a determination. Due to the ongoing investigation, the DME cannot disclose what specific tests and/or studies were requested. Deferred cases may take several months before a cause of death is established.”
Us also confirmed that Gerber was pronounced deceased at 9:45 a.m. local time on Monday, September 20, by responding emergency medical personnel. He was 27.
The Santa Monica Police Department in California is the agency overseeing the investigation.
Before his passing, Presley was candid about his struggles with mental health and addiction. In a 2023 podcast interview, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber shared his motivations for opening up about his life experiences.
“Whether I help one person or a hundred people escape the dark place I found myself in at one point, that’s all I need to accomplish,” Presley mentioned during an episode of the “Studio 22” podcast. “I’ve spent considerable time reflecting on myself and learning about my personal journey with the help of therapists.”
Through the fluctuations of addiction, Presley received unwavering support from his family, including his sister Kaia Gerber.
“My parents have always been quite private and kept things to themselves — and now we have this incredible role model, my brother, who says, ‘I’m going to be completely open with everyone,’” Kaia, 25, shared with Vogue in August 2026. “There’s only so much you can conceal from the outside world. Trying to suppress something only makes the person feel as though they’re a source of shame.”
