Scott Porter of Ginny & Georgia Stands Up for His Blonde Hair

Ginny & Georgia star Scott Porter has responded to critics of his newly bleached blonde hair.

“It was for work … but feel free to keep being a total d*** on the internet,” he posted on Instagram on Sunday, September 20, after a troll suggested that his hair color change was indicative of a “crisis.”

The social media user, who later expressed regret for coming across as “meaner than I intended,” originally claimed that the actor seems to be trying to “feel young again,” noting that this is typical behavior for men facing middle age.

While Porter, who is 47, accepted the apology, he still had more to say. “I mean … take a look back at what you wrote? Mid-life crisis? Not sure how folks are supposed to take that as just a joke? All good though, sorry for the d*** comment. Are we square now?” he replied.

Porter, currently portraying Mayor Paul Randolph on Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia, stood by his hairstyle choice despite ongoing criticism. One Instagram user insisted, “Why the hell did you go blonde? Change back,” to which Porter replied, “Make me.”

Another commenter remarked, “No, no, no, bring back the brown hair,” prompting yet another witty retort from Porter: “No, no, no … that’s it … that’s the response.”

Further comments from Porter highlighted his transformation from brunette to bright blonde. “It was super silver at first … but I think I prefer the yellow a bit more,” he shared.

Porter also clarified the reason behind his dramatic hairstyle change. “Did it for a rock show with @raffiandtherippers. We sold out the Troubadour, and I asked myself … when will I have the chance to do this again?” he explained elsewhere. (Porter has a musical background, having starred in 2009’s Bandslam and recorded vocals for its soundtrack, and occasionally performs with rock bands.)

This multi-talented individual even remarked on the stir his new hair color has caused. “It’s kind of wild, isn’t it? Made me put my sassy pants on,” he wrote in response to a fan calling the criticism “judgmental.”

Some fans appreciated Porter’s bold new look. “The hair is so good, why is everyone hating?” said one individual, while another added, “It will look really good in about 3 weeks when you get some good grow out.”
