Cindy Crawford’s Family: All About Her Husband and Kids, Kaia and Presley

Cindy Crawford has consistently prioritized her family while establishing herself as one of the most iconic models in the industry.

Crawford and Rande Gerber, who married in 1998, are the proud parents of son Presley Gerber and daughter Kaia Gerber. Both kids are following in their mother’s modeling footsteps.

In a 2014 interview with Us, Crawford expressed her desire to guide her daughter’s modeling journey: “I could help her navigate. I had a fantastic experience and avoided many pitfalls in the fashion world, so if she chooses that path, I’d be happy to be her stage mom!”

Before launching her successful career, Crawford grew up in Illinois alongside her parents and siblings. She has two sisters and a brother who tragically passed away from leukemia when he was just three years old.

“My dad wanted a boy, so the fourth was the boy, and there was a lot of guilt,” Crawford reflected on the “Kelly Corrigan Wonders: About Your Mother” podcast in May 2024. “There’s survivor guilt among the siblings, especially knowing my dad really wanted a boy. We felt it should’ve been one of us.”

Regarding her views on motherhood, Crawford stated, “It’s about how you show up for your kids. If they ask me, they’ll get my honest opinion. But if they don’t ask, I try hard—about 70 percent successfully—not to give unsolicited advice.”

Rande Gerber

Crawford’s relationship with the entrepreneur began as a friendship before blossoming into romance.

“We met at my agent’s wedding. At the time, I was still with Richard [Gere], and he didn’t want to attend the wedding with me,” Crawford recounted in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in July 2016. “At the time, Rande had a girlfriend as well, so neither of us was looking for anyone. Those are the best times to meet people because you’re being your true selves. We became friends, and once Richard and I parted ways, we began dating.”

In 2015, Gerber highlighted that maintaining the foundational elements of friendship and fun has been crucial to their relationship’s stability, stating, “You have to keep that friendship and fun alive.”

The couple welcomed their son in 1999. Presley gained experience modeling for brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, all while being a passionate advocate for mental health awareness. He spoke about his experiences in a 2023 interview on the “Studio 22” podcast.

“Having faced challenges with mental health and depression, whether I help one person or a hundred to escape from a dark place I’ve been, that’s what matters,” Presley shared.

Presley tragically passed away at the age of 27 in September 2026. The Gerber family released a statement requesting privacy during this incredibly difficult time.

Kaia Gerber

Arriving in 2001, Kaia took some time to fully appreciate her mother’s illustrious modeling career.

“I was like, ‘I didn’t fully realize. I knew you were iconic, but …’ I didn’t grasp it when I was younger,” Kaia mentioned in a February 2024 interview with the Wall Street Journal, admitting she felt “starstruck” by her mom after watching The Super Models series. “What she accomplished in her career was unprecedented.”

Beginning her own modeling career at just 10 years old, Kaia recalled an insightful moment shared with her mother on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in April 2024: “Right before my first fashion show, she gathered the entire family and showed me videos of models falling. I think she wanted to prepare me for the worst-case scenario, and I was shocked by how many ways one could fall!”

Cindy’s younger brother passed away at only 3 years old after battling leukemia. She was just 8 when he was diagnosed at the age of 2.

“For years, my sisters and I shared the same nightmares, feeling it should’ve been one of us,” Cindy reflected in her May 2024 podcast episode.

Cindy has become a strong advocate for cancer research, deeply committed to supporting the pediatric oncology program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where her brother received treatment.

John Crawford

Cindy’s father, an electrician from Illinois, was initially skeptical about her aspirations in modeling.

“My dad really didn’t see modeling as a genuine career. He thought of it as merely another term for prostitution,” she shared in The Super Models, a documentary series released in 2023.

However, Cindy mentioned that he eventually became supportive and attended her “first modeling appointment” that launched her career.

In a 2009 interview with the Daily Chronicle, Cindy reminisced her mother’s wisdom: “She told me that the face you have at 25 is God’s gift, but the face you earn after 50 is truly yours.”

Reflecting four years later, Cindy acknowledged how her parents’ tumultuous dynamic shaped her approach to future relationships.

“Unfortunately, my parents were one of those couples that didn’t make it. After their divorce, my father would send my mother weekly child support,” Crawford recounted in 2013. “However, if he was upset with her for dating or something else, he wouldn’t provide the funds that week, which sometimes meant we went without grocery or gas money. Witnessing that made me determined: ‘This will never happen to me. I will always be able to take care of myself.’”

Cindy has maintained a close relationship with her younger sister Chris. In 2015, she celebrated Chris and her husband Bob’s 25 years of marriage on Facebook, writing, “Congrats to my sister Chris and her husband on their milestone! Happy Anniversary to you both!
