What Role Did Elysia Roorbach, Patrick Ball’s Girlfriend, Play on The Pitt?
Patrick Ball‘s girlfriend, Elysia Roorbach, made a surprise appearance in the latest episode of The Pitt — did you catch her cameo?
In the Thursday, January 15 episode of the popular HBO Max series, Langdon (Ball) tended to a patient in triage who accidentally glued one of her eyes shut while attempting to apply false eyelashes. She inquired about seeing Dr. J, someone Langdon was unfamiliar with.
Roorbach is set to appear in more episodes as Langdon seeks to assist her with her issue. The actress and Ball have been together since late 2023, based on their social media activity. Ball reprises his role in season 2 of The Pitt following his character’s tumultuous storyline.
Since its debut on HBO Max in January 2025, The Pitt has followed a group of staff in a fictional Pittsburgh ER during a single 15-hour shift. The season’s first half showcased Dr. Santos (Isa Briones) at odds with her supervisor, Dr. Langdon, causing some viewers to express frustration with Santos, an intern on her first day at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital.
Santos eventually turned out to be correct about Langdon pilfering drugs from the hospital. In a March 2025 episode, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) confronted Langdon angrily about the theft, leading the senior resident to admit that he developed an addiction after being prescribed medication following an injury.
“He mentions injuring his back while helping his parents move, which is often the case. He visits a doctor who prescribes pain medication that turns out to be habit-forming. This scenario is all too common among high-functioning individuals,” Ball exclusively shared with Us Weekly at that time. “We are witnessing an opioid crisis straining our country, which is heartbreaking, as it often affects those who never intended to become addicts. They are misled and trapped. This reflects Langdon’s journey.”
Ball expressed gratitude for the chance to explore this narrative.
“All credit goes to our creator R. Scott Gemmill and the writers, as they depict addiction in ways that often surprise people,” Ball remarked regarding Langdon’s acknowledgment of his struggles. “Addiction is a disease, and it’s a battle many face, including individuals I know.”
According to the actor, the writers were “very careful in laying out hints and clues leading to the reveal.”
“It was crucial to portray this addiction in a responsible, humane, and accurate manner,” he added. “It’s been an incredible honor to contribute to that narrative.”
In season 2, Langdon returns to the ER after rehab, a storyline that will continue to be explored on screen.
“Emerging from rehab and undergoing some soul searching, I may require a little encouragement,” Ball mentioned to Us in September 2025 concerning his character.
New episodes of The Pitt premiere on HBO Max every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
