The View Announces Guest Hosts During Alyssa Farah Griffin’s Maternity Leave

The View will be introducing a mix of familiar and new faces to the “Hot Topics” table while Alyssa Farah Griffin takes her maternity leave.

Executive producer Brian Teta confirmed to Deadline on Wednesday, February 4, that Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Abby Huntsman will be returning to serve as cohosts.

Among the other confirmed guest cohosts are Protect Democracy editor Amanda Carpenter, The Talk alum Sheryl Underwood, and comedian Whitney Cummings.

Teta mentioned to Deadline that these selections aim to bring “a different point of view at the table,” highlighting individuals “who excel at this role or show promise in it.”

Since its debut in August 1997, over 20 women have held permanent cohosting roles on the ABC morning talk show. Created by Barbara Walters, the series features a multi-generational panel discussing interviews and current events, from politics to entertainment.

He also emphasized that the chosen names extend beyond just politics, reflecting the variety of topics covered by the show. “Hot Topics” often touches on pop culture, parenting, dating, and relationships.

Savannah Chrisley will kick off as the first guest cohost on Tuesday, February 17, following the long President’s Day weekend.

Chrisley, 28, first confirmed the news in December 2025 during an episode of her “Unlocked” podcast.

“I’m thrilled because I enjoy pursuits that challenge me, and I appreciate experiences that educate me,” she stated. “This is definitely pushing me out of my comfort zone with The View. I mean, this is a platform where these personalities have criticized my family and me. They’re the same women who speculated about how I secured those pardons.”

Following the presidential pardons received by Savannah’s parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, many of The View hosts criticized President Donald Trump’s choice.

“I’m stepping outside my comfort zone by joining a show where four or five women tend to share similar views, while I have a different perspective,” Savannah remarked. “I’m excited about this because I trust that God will guide me throughout this experience.”

The View’s guest cohosts are stepping in as Alyssa, 36, prepares for maternity leave and to welcome her first child with husband Justin Griffin.

During the February 3 episode of ABC’s daytime talk show, viewers witnessed Alyssa celebrating her pregnancy with a baby shower filled with gifts and advice from her fellow cohosts.

“I’m truly grateful,” Alyssa expressed while holding back tears. “They say it takes a village, and knowing I have such a wonderful support system at this table, along with my amazing husband and beloved family and friends, means the world to me.”

Before signing off for the day, moderator Whoopi Goldberg raised a glass and delivered a toast on behalf of Alyssa’s cohosts, which feature Sara Haines, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin.

“Here’s to health, happiness, and lots of love,” Goldberg, 70, added. “A little sleep and a lot of laughter.”

According to Deadline, last week marked the second-highest viewership for The View in the past five years, following the week of the 2024 presidential election.
