3 Must-Watch Football Movies for Super Bowl Weekend: Including Any Given Sunday and More!

Catch extensive coverage of the 2026 Super Bowl on Sunday, February 8. However, if you’re looking for a break from real football, consider diving into a football movie instead.

Hollywood has produced several remarkable football movies, many created without the NFL’s involvement.

Watch With Us has curated a list of three fantastic football films to enjoy this Super Bowl weekend.

Each selected movie presents a unique perspective on the game and its devoted fans.

‘Any Given Sunday’ (1999)

Any Given Sunday may not be the NFL’s favorite film, as it portrays a much grimmer side of the sport and its commercial aspects. Directed and co-written by Oliver Stone, the film stars Al Pacino as Tony D’Amato, the head coach of the Miami Sharks, who feels the pressure from the new owner, Christina Pagniacci (Cameron Diaz), to leave after three decades.

After Sharks quarterback Jack “Cap” Rooney (Dennis Quaid) is injured, third-string quarterback Willie “Steamin” Beamen (Jamie Foxx) gets a chance to rejuvenate his career and lead the team to the playoffs. However, Willie’s egocentric behavior could jeopardize both the team’s success and Coach Rooney’s last opportunity to make a mark.

Any Given Sunday is available for rent or purchase on Prime Video.

‘Draft Day’ (2014)

In contrast to Any Given Sunday, Draft Day enjoyed full cooperation from the NFL and is the final film directed by Ghostbusters creator Ivan Reitman. Kevin Costner stars as Sonny Weaver Jr., the general manager of the Cleveland Browns, facing a tumultuous personal life, including firing his father for health reasons and secretly dating team employee Ali Parker (Jennifer Garner).

The intensity ramps up on draft day when the Browns acquire the No. 1 pick. While college player Bo Callahan (Josh Pence) is the expected top choice, Sonny finds himself increasingly torn about the decision. A wrong pick could mean the end of his career in Cleveland, and time is running out for Sonny to make his decision.

Draft Day is available for streaming on Prime Video.

‘Rudy’ (1993)

Fun fact about Rudy: NFL legend Joe Montana was on the Notre Dame football team when Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger attended his last game in 1975. Montana criticized the dramatic liberties taken by the film, yet sports enthusiasts have embraced the story, which is widely regarded as one of the finest football films ever made.

Sean Astin stars as Rudy, a young man seemingly destined for a monotonous factory job. Following the death of his best friend, Rudy is motivated to pursue his dream of attending college and finding his place on Notre Dame’s football team. While the film may not be entirely accurate about Rudy’s journey to the field for the Fighting Irish, it remains an uplifting story that resonates with audiences.

Rudy is available to rent or purchase on Prime Video.
