Jodie Turner-Smith’s Daughter Embraces Taylor Swift on ‘Opalite’ Set
Jodie Turner-Smith transformed the set of Taylor Swift’s “Opalite” music video into an engaging family affair.
“I continue to be in awe of you @taylorswift 💕🫂,” Turner-Smith, 39, shared via Instagram on Friday, February 6. “Your creativity, intelligence, wit, generosity, and grace are inspiring. I had an amazing time, and I kept thinking, ‘When will Taylor direct me again?’”
In Swift’s latest music video, which debuted earlier on Friday, Turner-Smith portrayed a ‘90s aerobics star. Along with her caption, she posted 13 images from the set, including one of her 5-year-old daughter meeting Swift, 36, backstage.
In the adorable photo, Swift donned a black turtleneck paired with a matching pleated miniskirt as she leaned down to hug the actress’ daughter.
Swift wrote and directed her “Opalite” video featuring Turner-Smith, Domhnall Gleeson, Cillian Murphy, Greta Lee, and Lewis Capaldi, after meeting them on The Graham Norton Show in October 2025.
“The concept for the ‘Opalite’ music video struck me during the promotional phase for The Life of a Showgirl,” Swift noted via Instagram on Friday. “I felt incredibly fortunate to be paired with such a talented group. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, @JodieTurnerSmith, and @LewisCapaldi are all artists I genuinely admire. During the broadcast, Domhnall humorously mentioned wanting to be in a music video of mine.”
She went on, “In that moment during the interview, an *idea* sparked in my mind. A week later, I sent him a script for the ‘Opalite’ video where he would play the lead role. I thought it would be great if all our fellow guests from that night’s Graham Norton Show, including Graham himself, could join in. It felt like a group project, but for adults, and with no pressure.”
Turner-Smith was quick to agree to participate in the music video.
“I had an absolute blast doing this for the amazing @taylorswift,” the Queen and Slim star expressed through her Instagram Stories on Friday. “Also, a shoutout to my daughter for keeping it all under wraps.”
Turner-Smith and her ex-husband Joshua Jackson welcomed their daughter in April 2020, three years before their separation.
“It’s an adjustment period for anyone going through a split, especially when you’re used to being with your child all the time,” Turner-Smith shared with Glamour UK in 2024 regarding her co-parenting dynamic with Jackson, 47. “There’s no manual for this. We’re all just trying to figure it out.”
She added, “Every parent’s life is different, and particularly if the reason for the split is due to differing lifestyles, co-parenting becomes even more complex.”
Turner-Smith and Jackson were married from 2019 until 2023, with their divorce finalized two years later in 2025.
“[Turner-Smith and Jackson] are currently working on a custody arrangement,” noted Turner-Smith’s lawyer in a memo shared in October 2025. “They will return to their private judge to address any disagreements surrounding the proposed custody judgment.”
