How Abby De La Rosa Talks to Her Kids About Nick Cannon’s Other Mothers of His Children

Abby De La Rosa is explaining how she discusses Nick Cannon‘s extensive family with their children.

During her appearance on the “Lovers by Shan” podcast on Wednesday, February 11, De La Rosa, 35, shared that Cannon, 45, does not identify as “polyamorous.” Instead, he simply describes himself as someone who “loves” easily, despite having 12 children with six different women.

“That’s what I choose to teach my kids. Daddy loves many people. Daddy has a lot of love to give. That’s just who daddy is,” De La Rosa elaborated.

She shares twins Zion and Zillion, 4, and daughter Beautiful, 3, with Cannon. He is also the father of twins Monroe and Moroccan, 13, with Mariah Carey; Golden Sagon, 8, Powerful Queen, 4, and Rise Messiah, 2, with Brittany Bell; Legendary Love, 2, with Bre Tiesi; Onyx Ice, 2, with LaNisha Cole; and Halo Marie, 2, with Alyssa Scott. Tragically, Cannon and Scott’s son, Zen, passed away at 5 months old in 2021.

De La Rosa noted that her children “know their siblings’ parents,” but mentioned that the mothers of Cannon’s children do not “communicate with one another.”

“We all lead very separate lives,” she explained. “We’re all quite individualized.”

According to De La Rosa, Cannon typically arranges playdates for his children by communicating directly with their mothers, rather than the mothers reaching out to each other.

“In a sense, it feels monogamous,” she remarked.

She emphasized that all of Cannon’s baby mamas are aware of his lifestyle.

“But there’s never been just one person involved in this. I want to stress that nobody has been blindsided,” she added.

De La Rosa also responded to critics of Cannon’s family structure.

“This is a beautiful family dynamic,” she asserted. “People often dislike what they don’t understand. They don’t grasp the family dynamic and may never fully comprehend it.”

However, De La Rosa admitted that it can be difficult for her to see Cannon co-parenting with his other children’s mothers.

“In theory, it sounds cool, but when you experience it firsthand—seeing him on trips or witnessing real family dynamics—it can be triggering and get under your skin,” the internet personality said. She further stated, “But he’s created such beautiful family dynamics. It’s challenging for women when the person you were just close to is seen being equally affectionate with another person … It’s not easy.”

Despite these feelings, De La Rosa described Cannon as “the best father, the best provider, the best partner.” She shared that they have “grown into love” through understanding each other’s “communication style, friendship style, and parenting style.”

“Having kids amplifies everything,” she continued. “And we not only share children but a child with special needs. [Zillion was diagnosed with autism in 2024.] That elevates everything to a different level, and it’s been quite a journey.”
