Teri Hatcher Shares Heartbreaking News About Her Beloved 11-Year-Old Dog’s Passing
Teri Hatcher has announced the passing of her 11-year-old dog, Pumpkin.
“With a heavy heart, I said goodbye to Pumpkin yesterday,” the Desperate Housewives alum, 61, shared on Instagram on Sunday, March 15. “When I decided to adopt a dog six years ago, I specifically sought a senior because I knew most people would want puppies. Thus, I was aware that this day would come sooner than I would like.”
Hatcher’s heartfelt post included several photos of Pumpkin throughout the years, showcasing beach outings and cherished moments with other members of the Hatcher family.
Though she is grieving the loss of Pumpkin, Hatcher reflected on how her pup “touched many hearts and provided comfort to countless souls” during his lifetime.
“In my personal life and during visits to @childrensla as part of a dog therapy team for both patients and staff, his star-like charm, soft fur, and loving nature were a constant source of comfort and true blessings,” she continued. “Thank you, Pumpkin, for entering my life and for all that you contributed to so many.”
Hatcher expressed that even in tough times, Pumpkin remained a good boy in her eyes.
“I knew you always tried to be the best dog, even when it was difficult for your body… and Pumpkin, you were the best dog. I’m devastated,” she wrote. “I would have done anything to make you better. I’m so sorry there weren’t clearer answers. Sometimes things just happen.”
Hatcher wished Pumpkin “love and light” on his new journey and offered one last tribute.
“Bless you, sweet Pumpkin. You truly were the best dog,” she concluded.
Many of Hatcher’s friends extended their condolences.
“I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing our furry friends is incredibly tough. Sending you all my love ❤️🌈,” Lisa Rinna commented on the post.
Hatcher’s Desperate Wives co-star and podcast co-host Andrea Bowen added, “Sending you big hugs. You gave him a wonderful life and were blessed to find each other. I’m so sorry. ❤️🩹.”
Hatcher last took Pumpkin to the Los Angeles children’s hospital in October 2025 to celebrate Halloween. In a video shared on Hatcher’s Instagram, Pumpkin dressed as a Jack-o-lantern for the occasion, staying by Hatcher’s side as she read to the children.
