Paul Feig Provides Update on Blake Lively Ahead of Trial
Paul Feig has provided an update on his long-time friend Blake Lively as the initial trial date in her legal proceedings against Justin Baldoni approaches.
“Blake is doing well. She’s strong and persevering,” Feig, 63, shared with Extra while attending the 2026 Oscars red carpet on Sunday, March 15. “She is a fantastic mother, which is the foremost aspect of her life, and her kids are thriving.”
Lively, 38, and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, are parents to James, 11, Inez, 9, Betty, 6, and Olin, 3. The couple strives to keep their children out of the limelight and away from glamorous red carpet events.
“She has a joyful marriage,” Feig remarked, “and I deeply care for her.”
In addition to having a longstanding friendship with Lively, Feig has also had the chance to work with the Gossip Girl star. They collaborated on the 2018 thriller A Simple Favor and reunited for its sequel, Another Simple Favor, in 2025.
“Blake is an incredible co-worker, so when I read misunderstandings about how movies are created, it frustrates me,” Feig previously shared with Esquire U.K. in April 2025. “Every star I’ve collaborated with operates this way. The notion that a star merely arrives and you hand them the script—please show me a single movie star who functions like that.”
Lively is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with Baldoni, 42, who previously acted alongside her in It Ends With Us and directed the film.
In late 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing her former co-star and director of sexual harassment and orchestrating a purported smear campaign against her. Baldoni has firmly denied the allegations and later countersued Lively. Nevertheless, a judge dismissed his lawsuit in June 2025.
While the case was initially set to go to trial this month, Judge Lewis J. Liman postponed the start date to May, citing his obligations with other ongoing criminal trials.
“As significant as this case is … criminal trials take precedence,” the judge previously stated.
Despite his friend’s legal troubles, Feig was thrilled to attend the 2026 Oscars at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and witness the Bridesmaids cast’s reunion on stage.
“I haven’t seen them all together since we filmed the movie,” he told Extra. “Maybe just at the premiere and a couple of parties, but this will be special. It’s great to see them together on stage.”
For the most significant night in Hollywood, Paul donned a Tom Ford suit and took pictures with his wife, Laurie Feig.
“Heading to the Oscars to see the Bridesmaids cast present,” he posted on Instagram before the event on Sunday. “Can you believe it’s been 15 years 👰♀️🤵♂️.”
