Then and Now: The Cast of “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” in Comparison Photos
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives enthusiasts have witnessed cast changes both on and off the screen, even before the show premiered.
The first season of this acclaimed reality series, which chronicles the lives of a group of Mormon mom influencers, launched on Hulu in September 2024, coinciding with the fallout from star Taylor Frankie Paul‘s “soft swinging” scandal.
“We’re not all swingers,” Whitney Leavitt told Us Weekly exclusively at the time, noting that the controversy didn’t impact her “at all” in the subsequent months. “I think it’d be different if I was actually involved in it, but I wasn’t, so I just took the clout from it.”
Mayci Neely echoed this sentiment, telling Us, “We’re not all swingers. You can be Mormon and wear crop tops and leggings too. There’s no need to be perfect or fit into the stereotype of what people believe we should be.”
In June 2022, Taylor disclosed via TikTok that her marriage to husband Tate Paul had been affected by the drama.
“I guess I’m mostly known for my headlines as Swinger Mom,” Taylor shared with Us. “For the show, I wanted to show more of my personality and a deeper side of myself. I feel like I come across differently online compared to how I am in real conversations. This was my chance to share my story and give people a deeper insight into who I am.”
Layla Taylor, on the other hand, expressed empathy for Taylor’s plight.
“We just need to remember that we’re all human and make mistakes,” she told Us. “It was a challenging situation for her, especially being so public, and I believe she managed it the best she could. I forgive her for how she handled things in that moment.”
In an interview with Us, Mikayla Matthews addressed the widespread misconceptions surrounding MomTok.
“We’re not just this perfect united front,” she explained to Us. “On social media, it seems like there are these eight faces on screen, all dressed alike, appearing unified and put together. Our show really breaks down those perceptions. We’re just normal, I guess.”
