Lady Gaga Discusses Her Motherhood Priorities Ahead of Baby’s Arrival
Lady Gaga made predictions about her future as a mother nearly a year before she reportedly welcomed her first child.
“Disappear? I don’t think so. But, you know, I believe music will always play a role in our child’s life,” Gaga, 40, mentioned on a July 2025 episode of The Howard Stern Show when questioned about potentially stepping away from the limelight after becoming a parent. “I will have to see what it’s like and what our kid needs, you know?”
Gaga has been engaged to Michael Polansky since 2024. News emerged on Friday, September 11, that Gaga and Polansky, 42, have quietly welcomed their first baby. (The couple has not officially confirmed the announcement. Us reached out for further details at the time.)
While chatting with host Howard Stern, Gaga speculated about how her priorities might change if and when she became a parent for the first time.
“I genuinely want them to experience a very safe and happy childhood, so you’re correct that will be my top priority,” she noted during her radio conversation, following Stern’s, 72, speculation that the pop star would fully embrace family responsibilities. “You are spot on with that.”
Gaga was first romantically associated with Polansky in 2019 after they were introduced by her mother. (Gaga’s mom, Cynthia Germanotta, first met Polansky at a charity event.)
“I had never encountered someone quite like Michael. He’s exceptionally intelligent and incredibly kind. Our lives are quite different,” Gaga told Vogue in September 2024. “He’s a very private person and he’s with me solely because we are right for one another. I want my fans to know that I’m genuinely happy. I’m healthy.”
She further explained at that time, “I feel like the last time they heard from me — in this way — was Chromatica, and that album represented an incredibly challenging period for my mental health. I was in a really dark space. I struggled for many years before that. But things began to change.”
According to Gaga, Polansky “wasn’t hesitant to really hold my hand” and get to know her on “a deeply personal level.”
“I didn’t know much about her and honestly didn’t know what to expect,” he shared with the outlet. “I was immediately taken by her warmth and openness — she was genuinely curious about my upbringing in Minnesota.”
