3 Upcoming Netflix Movies I’m Excited to See in April 2026
Netflix consistently boasts an impressive array of movies in the streaming realm, and April is no different.
This month’s lineup appears to favor borrowed titles over original productions, yet there’s at least one new release, Apex, that deserves attention.
This is just one of the films selected by Watch With Us for the three Netflix movies I’m excited to watch in April 2026.
If there’s a common theme among two of this month’s choices, it’s that the wilderness can be a perilous environment when grappling with grief and fighting for survival. Choose wisely, or you might find yourself out of options.
‘Beast’ (2022)
Idris Elba stars in Beast as Dr. Nate Samuels, a man mourning his recently passed wife, Amahle (Naledi Mogadime). In a bid to reconnect emotionally with his daughters, Meredith (Iyana Halley) and Norah (Leah Sava Jeffries), Nate organizes a family trip to Amahle’s homeland of South Africa to explore their roots and visit an old friend, Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley).
However, before any healing can transpire, the Samuels family must confront a rogue lion. This dangerous beast has already claimed lives and is eager to do so again. Though Nate isn’t inherently violent, he must find a way to eliminate the lion if he and his daughters wish to return home. This lion is not mindless; it possesses the cunning to ambush its prey when least expected.
Beast will be available to stream on Netflix starting April 7.
‘IF’ (2024)
John Krasinski penned and directed IF, where he plays a supporting role as the father of Bea (Cailey Fleming), a girl with the unique ability to see other people’s imaginary friends. As each imaginary friend varies in shape and size, Bea realizes the complexity of her visions when she meets Cal (Ryan Reynolds), a grown man who shares her gift.
Cal takes it upon himself to aid IFs like Blue (Steve Carell), Blossom (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), and Lewis (Louis Gossett Jr.) in finding new children to bond with so they regain their purpose. Bea is eager to assist but proposes a bolder approach: she suggests that Cal track down these lost IFs with their former child companions. It may seem impossible, but stranger things have occurred.
IF will be available on Netflix by April 9.
‘Apex’ (2026)
Following her roles in The Old Guard and its sequel, Charlize Theron returns to Netflix in April with a new action thriller, Apex. Theron portrays Sasha, an adept rock climber grappling with the loss of a loved one. To escape her grief, Sasha embarks on a trip to Australia, hoping to immerse herself in the wilderness and find the solitude she seeks.
However, Sasha soon realizes she isn’t alone. A deranged killer (Taron Egerton) has turned her into the prey of a deadly game. Should he catch her, the outcome will be fatal. To survive, Sasha must outsmart and outmaneuver this ruthless hunter—failure means a swift demise.
Apex will stream on Netflix beginning April 24.
