Joey Lawrence and Samantha Cope Celebrate the Arrival of Their Second Baby

Joey Lawrence has officially joined the ranks of boy dads after his wife, Samantha Cope, welcomed their son.

“Our newest family member has arrived,” Cope announced via Instagram on Thursday, April 9. “What a true blessing you are, baby boy! This Easter Weekend will be one to remember forever.”

Cope gave birth to a baby boy named Ford on Monday, April 6.

Lawrence and Cope are already parents to daughter Dylan, who was born in January 2023. The actor also has daughters Charleston and Liberty, born in 2006 and 2010, respectively, with his ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson.

Many celebrities welcomed new additions to their families in 2026. Former Bachelor contestant Sydney Warner shared in January that she had given birth to her second child with NFL star Fred Warner. The Warners aren’t the only ones busy this year; Meghan McCain also welcomed baby No. 3 nearly a week ago.

Lawrence and Cope first connected on the set of the Lifetime movie My Husband’s Secret Brother. In August 2021, Us Weekly exclusively revealed their engagement.

“We met there, and unexpectedly, in what was obviously a challenging time for everyone due to the pandemic, amazing things happened. Meeting her has genuinely been the greatest thing ever,” he told Us at the time.

The couple married in May 2022, but they quietly separated in June 2024, with Cope filing for divorce that August. By December, they had reconciled.

“Every situation will strengthen you if you’re willing to put in the effort,” Lawrence stated in August 2025. “Life is a bumpy, imperfect journey, and we all make mistakes, myself included.”

He emphasized that he makes a consistent effort to nurture “all my relationships,” with a particular focus on his bond with Cope.

Joey Lawrence and Samantha Cope have shared their love story despite various ups and downs. Lawrence gained fame in the early ’80s with shows like Blossom and Brotherly Love. He was previously married to Michelle Vella for three years before their 2005 divorce and later married Chandie Yawn-Nelson.

“I adore her, and we’re dedicated to working on our relationship every day,” he remarked. “It’s rewarding to put in the effort and witness the positive outcomes.”

Three months later, during a live taping of Dancing With the Stars’ 20th Birthday Party episode, they announced they were expecting their second child. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lawrence joked that the pregnancy was unexpected while laughing about their matching outfits.

“Nothing was planned, not even this,” he said, motioning toward Cope’s baby bump. “This was unexpected.”

The couple also shared with the outlet that they were having a son. After being a girl dad three times, Lawrence expressed joy about finally adding a baby boy to their family.

“I have my older girls, then our little one, Dylan, who is 3, and now this little guy,” he stated. “They’re all thrilled. It’s unique to finally have a boy, so everyone is excited about having a little brother. That’s the cool part.”
