James Lafferty and Alexandra Park: A Timeline of Their Relationship
Talk about a charming encounter! James Lafferty and Alexandra Park’s romance began on a television set — and they later portrayed a couple in 2021’s Everyone Is Doing Great.
The One Tree Hill star first met Park while directing a 2015 episode of The Royals (which shared a creative team with the CW drama). Lafferty directed four additional episodes of the E! series, where his love played the lead role of Princess Eleanor throughout all four seasons.
The couple has generally kept their relationship private. Nevertheless, when Lafferty proposed in the fall of 2020, he eagerly shared the news with his social media followers.
“She said yes 🙌🏼☺️,” the Right Stuff alum wrote alongside a photo of the newly engaged couple cuddling in the kitchen in September of that year.
Park, for her part, exclusively shared with Us Weekly in January 2021 the reason for their discretion about their romance.
“We are quite private by choice, but we want to express some love for the show, and we wish to share parts of our lives with our supporters and fans,” the Shooting in Vain actress explained at the time. “We navigate the balance of sharing bits and pieces here and there.”
However, that balance does not extend to their on-screen collaborations. In fact, Park told Us in January 2021 that the couple conceived the idea for Everyone Is Doing Great together. (The show debuted on Hulu that same month.)
“We thought it would be fantastic [to portray a married couple]. The chemistry is definitely there,” the Elephant Princess alum recalled. “We love collaborating professionally. One thing I’m truly grateful for in our relationship is that we can work together doing what we love, so we thought it would be fun to play with the dynamic of Jeremy and Andrea in something that’s quite different from our personal relationship.”
Four months later, Lafferty again brought fans into his world with Park by expressing his admiration for his then-fiancée’s book, Sugar High.
“I couldn’t be more proud and in awe of this woman. After witnessing her navigate the years-long process, the moment has finally arrived for her to share it with the world,” the Small Town Crime actor wrote via Instagram in May 2021, noting that the memoir addresses Park’s journey with type 1 diabetes and her career progression. “It’s a genuine, heartfelt, humorous, and motivating story that will inspire you to believe that no matter what challenges arise, you can achieve your goals in this life.”
One year later, Us exclusively confirmed that the couple wed in Hawaii. Lafferty’s former OTH co-star Stephen Colletti — who was also a co-creator of Everyone Is Doing Great — served as one of the groomsmen. Park had her Royals co-star and longtime best friend Tom Austen in her bridal party.
