Tyler and Catelynn from Teen Mom Celebrate Carly’s Birthday
Teen Mom stars Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell expressed their heartfelt love for their daughter Carly on her 17th birthday.
The couple took to their joint Facebook page to share a TikTok crafted by Catelynn, 34, reminiscing about their daughter’s growth since they placed her for adoption in 2009 when they were just 16.
“17 years ago at 10:39 am, you took your first breath,” the tribute stated. “I can hardly believe you are 17 today. The day you were born changed my life forever. From the moment I held you, I knew you would always be one of my greatest blessings. As you turn 17, remember how loved you are and how proud I am of you. Never stop believing in yourself and pursuing your dreams. The world is a brighter place because of you.”
Catelynn’s heartfelt words were paired with a slideshow of images showcasing her and Tyler, also 34, cherishing moments with Carly as a newborn and toddler, along with later visits. (Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis, initially committed to an “open” adoption as seen on MTV’s 16 & Pregnant, which allowed Tyler and Catelynn to see Carly in person once a year.)
“Happy 17th birthday,” the post concluded. “I love you more than words can express.”
The tribute garnered an outpouring of support from fans who commended the couple for their decisions as parents. “They are true parents because [it was] the ultimate sacrifice for her to have a better life than they could have provided at that time,” commented one follower.
“Sobbing 🥺 Happy Birthday ❤️🩹 Thank you for sharing your story; I’m adopted and still healing – keep sharing ❤️,” another follower wrote.
Catelynn, who also shares daughters Novalee, 11, Vaeda, 7, and Rya, 4, with Tyler, often expresses her thoughts about Carly on social platforms. Earlier this month, she defended Carly against online trolls who allegedly stole her prom photos and body-shamed her.
“I recently saw that some pages are stealing Carly’s prom pictures,” Catelynn mentioned in a TikTok video on May 6. “Firstly, I don’t support this. It’s absurd. Secondly, why do adults feel the need to comment on the bodies of children and minors? Comments like calling her a skeleton or suggesting she eat cheeseburgers are unacceptable.”
The reality TV star told Us Weekly in January 2025 that it’s essential for her to continue publicly discussing Carly, despite Brandon and Teresa converting the adoption to “closed” in 2023. “I want Carly to know that if she wishes for contact and it’s not happening, I’ll fight for that until the day I die or until she says it’s too hard for her to maintain contact,” Lowell remarked at the time. “Until then, I want her to know I’m always here and ready to do whatever I can.”
Regarding Tyler’s connection with Carly, he disclosed on the April 27 episode of the “Cake For Dinner” podcast that he doesn’t have much personal contact with her. “Our relationship is pretty limited,” he explained. “I set up an email for her that Catelynn and I will write to, and that’s the only way we maintain any sort of communication.”
