Pat McAfee and His Wife Celebrate the Arrival of Their Second Baby Following Emergency C-Section
Pat McAfee is celebrating the arrival of baby number two after his wife, Samantha McAfee, experienced an emergency C-section.
“Please help @MrsMcAfeeShow, Mackenzie, and I welcome Midas Robert McAfee into our family,” the Pat McAfee Show host, 39, shared via X on Monday, May 25. “Due to Samantha’s high-risk pregnancy and severe preeclampsia, the decision was made for an emergency C-Section on Friday night. Our baby boy officially arrived on May 22nd at 10:42PM, weighing 6lbs 6oz and full of life … 10 toes, 10 fingers, and a full head of hair.”
Pat reminisced about the special moments they shared with their newborn before he was taken to the NICU.
“In his very first moments, Midas was already working … He managed to get his oxygen levels high enough to join us in our room, allowing for all those magical newborn moments,” Pat explained. “Skin-to-skin contact, countless kisses, and so much love.. however, since he was born at 36 weeks (40 weeks is full term), he needed to develop his lungs a bit more and get some fluid out, so he was sent to the NICU to make the transition from womb to world.”
Pat noted that Samantha “was recovering like a true champion following the astonishing C-Section surgery.”
“Witnessing Samantha persevere through her recovery has been incredibly inspiring; WE APPRECIATE YOU @MrsMcAfeeShow,” he wrote. “I will ensure our kids know just how much you went through for them.”
Alongside his admiration for his wife’s strength post-birth, Pat expressed pride in Midas’s resilience.
“We suspected he was a fighter, but seeing our baby connected to numerous ‘very serious’ monitors was a bit daunting,” he added. “He stayed in the NICU for about 36 hours before being brought back to our room … and that was a FULL CELEBRATION. We’ve been floating around this room, sleeping, burping, feeding, and changing diapers ever since.”
Pat and Samantha are eager to return home to their daughter Mackenzie, 3, so she can finally “meet her baby brother.”
The sports analyst remarked on the poetic nature of Midas’s safe arrival on Memorial Day.
“On this Memorial Day, we express our gratitude to those who sacrificed everything for this country we call home, and we will use their stories to guide our young boy on living a meaningful life,” he wrote. “We love you, Midas… Welcome to the McAfee family. We will do all we can for you, brother.”
Pat also mentioned that in these early days of his son’s life, they have already enjoyed some major sports events and classic films.
“P.S. Midas has already witnessed the closest Indy 500 of all time, the Vegas Golden Knights’ huge Game 3 comeback… and of course, Top Gun: Maverick,” he concluded.
