Cowboys Cheerleader Reece Weaver Discusses Her Retirement Decision
Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Reece Weaver shared her reasons for stepping away from her beloved role after gaining popularity on Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts.
“As I approached season 3, my third year on the squad, I felt overwhelming gratitude,” Weaver, 24, told Us Weekly in an exclusive interview. “My cup was overflowing as I entered this year. I was thrilled about year three and all it had to offer, but my cup just kept getting fuller. During my last game, I didn’t realize it was my final one, but I treated it like it was, ensuring I really soaked everything in. I needed that closure for my mental well-being.”
Weaver decided on her retirement at the beginning of March 2025, just before she had to inform DCC director Kelli Finglass and DCC choreographer Judy Trammell.
“I can’t remember being as nervous for a conversation as I was then,” Weaver reflected. “It wasn’t about telling them, but more about voicing it out loud.”
She continued, “Fortunately, they were incredibly supportive and excited about this new chapter I’m about to begin. That reassurance meant a lot.”
Weaver married her husband, Will Allman, in April 2024, shortly after her first season with the team and just two months before the release of season 1 of America’s Sweethearts, which catapulted her into fame.
While her husband had no influence over her retirement decision, Weaver expressed her excitement about starting this new phase in their relationship.
“We haven’t fully experienced what it’s like to be newlyweds yet,” Weaver shared. “I’d be lying if I said we hadn’t discussed the future. Will has been so supportive, sacrificing much to help me pursue my dreams. No matter what I decided, he was behind me all the way.”
Allman left his job at a power washing company as Weaver gained prominence, helping her navigate the wave of opportunities, brand partnerships, and the ensuing whirlwind.
Weaver noted that this transition has been “interesting” as she and Allman navigate what their future holds. The couple, who met at the University of Alabama, recently moved from Texas to Allman’s home state of Alabama.
“We can’t change what has happened or how our new reality looks. I think that’s significant,” she mentioned. “Initially, I was confused and wondering what to do and how to handle everything. But I believe this experience has ultimately strengthened both our marriage and relationship. I’m excited to take this into the next chapter of our lives.”
Season 3 of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders is now available for streaming on Netflix.
