Serena Williams’ Ultimate Tennis Fashion Moments
The only thing that Serena Williams might outshine in more than tennis is her knack for selecting unforgettable outfits.
Since the 23-time Grand Slam champion celebrated her first major victory at the 1999 U.S. Open in a buttercup yellow Puma dress and adorned with beads, it became evident that the now-legend was a star in both sports and fashion.
She has consistently reaffirmed her superstar status, donning everything from bold catsuits and crop tops to tutus and denim on the court. Indeed, the multi-talented athlete, mother, designer, and entrepreneur—who declared her retirement from the sport in August 2022—has seemingly worn it all.
By adding some flair to the typical pleated skirts and polo shirts often seen in the sport, Williams has always embraced her unique style (and fabulously fit figure!) on the court, initially through her collaboration with Puma and now with Nike.
For the 2022 U.S. Open, which occurred shortly after the champion announced her decision to “move on” from tennis, Williams exited what may be one of her last on-court appearances with flair. She dazzled on the court wearing a black, sheer-paneled Nike dress adorned with sparkles. The dress featured a crystal-encrusted bodice and a six-layer skirt—a tribute to her six previous Flushing titles, as Nike announced in a press release prior to the match. On her feet, Williams sported custom PE NikeCourt Flare 2 sneakers embellished with a diamond-studded Swoosh.
Williams officially returned from retirement in 2026, bringing her iconic style back to the court.
