Dave Chappelle Surprised by Travis Kelce’s Bachelor Bash

Comedian Dave Chappelle has spoken out regarding Travis Kelce‘s decision to attend one of his recent comedy shows for his bachelor party.

“I was taken aback; I had never witnessed anything like that. A bachelor party without any debauchery?” Chappelle, 52, shared during a Zoom call on CNN’s Independence Eve Live on Friday, July 3. “Whatever brings you joy, Travis.”

The 36-year-old Travis, accompanied by his brother Jason Kelce and several friends, celebrated with a West Coast bachelor party last month. They attended Chappelle’s performance and various sporting events in honor of Travis’ upcoming marriage to pop star Taylor Swift.

Travis and Swift, 36, conveniently said “I do” on Friday night, coinciding with the CNN broadcast, at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden in front of nearly 1,000 friends and family.

“I heard he was getting married at Madison Square Garden. You’d think I’d have received an invite, but I didn’t,” Chappelle humorously remarked on CNN. “I clearly didn’t make the list of the 15,000 closest friends.”

He then asked CNN hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, who were broadcasting from just a few blocks away in Times Square, if they had received invitations to this much-anticipated wedding.

“It seems like the three of us are the only ones not attending,” Cohen, 58, jokingly responded on Friday. “We’re the only ones left off the guest list.”

While Cohen and Cooper, 59, were busy hosting their CNN special on Friday night, Chappelle joined the conversation from his stand-up show in California. Meanwhile, Swift and Travis celebrated their love story surrounded by a long list of A-list celebrities, including Bradley Cooper, Jessica Alba, Kelsea Ballerini, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, and Miranda Lambert.

“Well, I eloped,” Chappelle joked with the CNN cohosts, humorously comparing his small wedding to the grandeur of Swift and Kelce’s celebration. “My wife and I went to Taco Bell after we tied the knot in Vegas, thinking, ‘It’s going to be a long road ahead. Best of luck to us!’”

Chappelle has been married to Elaine Mendoza Erfe since 2001, and they share three children together.

“We don’t live in Hollywood,” the comedian previously shared about their life away from the spotlight during a 2020 appearance on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With Dave Letterman. “There’s no paparazzi waiting to snap our pictures. … I never leave my kids without telling them I love them because I never know what could happen.”
