Pamela Anderson Responds to Rumors About Returning to ‘Baywatch’ Reboot
Pamela Anderson is contemplating the possibility of reprising her legendary red swimsuit for Fox’s Baywatch reboot.
“No one has reached out to me. I’m not really informed about it,” Anderson, 59, disclosed to Deadline in an interview published on Friday, July 24. “I understand they were discussing my sons [Brandon Lee and Dylan Lee] potentially producing, but it seems there wasn’t a mutual understanding. I’m not entirely sure what transpired, but I wish them all the best.”
She continued, “It was an incredible job, and I cherished going to work on the beach every day. I would have gone regardless. At that time, it taught me a lot and provided me with global exposure. Every step I’ve taken has led me here, which is truly a blessing. However, I don’t have any plans to return to Baywatch.”
Anderson rose to fame playing lifeguard C.J. Parker on the classic ‘90s action TV series. She last reprised her role with a cameo in Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron’s 2017 movie reboot.
Fox’s latest rendition of Baywatch features newcomers Brooks Nader, Shay Mitchell, and Noah Beck, although Anderson’s ‘90s co-stars David Chokachi, Michael Bergin, and Erika Eleniak will also be reprising their roles from the original series.
When asked if she was curious about C.J.’s current adventures, Anderson replied, “If my kids were involved, I would have probably listened to them. I think I just need to keep exploring what else is available.”
“I recognize that there are plenty of great shows out right now, but I’ve already experienced that. Now, it’s my time to experiment with different characters,” she added. “I don’t want to merely fill time until the end of the year. I have options, and I’m contemplating some projects, including some theater again. I seek to make bold choices. I want to astound people. I want to astonish myself. Therefore, I’m trying to pursue endeavors I haven’t tackled before.”
Anderson is experiencing a career revival, garnering award season acclaim for her 2024 return in The Last Showgirl. Last year, her reboot of the cult classic comedy franchise The Naked Gun with Liam Neeson grossed over $100 million at the box office.
The actress is currently promoting the comedic thriller Rosebush Pruning, where she portrays the matriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family. Her upcoming drama Place to Be — co-starring Ellen Burstyn and Taika Waititi — is set to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in September.
In the meantime, Fox’s reimagining of Baywatch has received some criticism for casting models and influencers alongside seasoned actors. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model Nader, 29, strongly defended the new Baywatch cast shortly after the project’s announcement.
“I believe that times have changed, and everyone is multi-talented now; you can be both an actor and an influencer and have an impact,” she told the Daily Mail earlier this year. “That’s the beauty of the culture that social media has fostered.”
Baywatch has received a direct-to-series order and is anticipated to premiere on Fox during the 2026-2027 TV season.
