Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Prison Release Delayed Following Altercation

Sean “Diddy” Combs has experienced another change in his prison release date.

Just a week after Us reported that the disgraced music mogul was set to be released from federal prison on January 24, 2028, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has adjusted his release date to about a month later.

According to online records accessed by Us on Wednesday, August 5, Diddy, 56, is now eligible for release on February 20, 2028.

Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison in October 2025 after being convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He is currently serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.

The founder of Bad Boy Records was originally scheduled for release on June 4, 2028, though that date has been altered several times. In March, Us reported that his release was moved up to April 25, 2028. Two months later, it shifted again to February 23, 2028. By July 29, he was expected to be released in January 2028.

A spokesperson for Diddy commented to Us last week, stating, “At this point we do not have the necessary information to respond with any clarity.”

The recent updates regarding Diddy’s release date follow reports of an alleged altercation with another inmate at FCI Fort Dix. This incident was reportedly intervened by prison staff, resulting in Diddy being placed in solitary confinement.

At that time, Diddy’s representatives did not respond to Us’ inquiry regarding the alleged fight. FCI Fort Dix refrained from confirming whether Diddy had been moved to solitary confinement.

A spokesperson for the facility stated to TMZ on July 24, “We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody. Such information would not be available for the public domain.”

Diddy was initially arrested on charges including sex trafficking in September 2024. The trial took place in May 2025 and concluded in July 2025. He was convicted on two prostitution-related charges but acquitted of two counts of trafficking and one count of racketeering conspiracy. The star has consistently maintained his innocence and denied all allegations against him.

During his October sentencing, Judge Arun Subramanian ordered Diddy to pay a $500,000 fine and to complete five years of supervised release upon leaving prison.

During the hearing, Subramanian encouraged Diddy to “make the most” of his “second chance,” reminding him, “There’s a true path to redemption here. What went wrong and what can be made right.”
