Erin Andrews Discusses Her Journey to Conceive a Second Child at 48

Erin Andrews is sharing her journey exclusively with Us about her efforts to conceive a second child at the age of 48.

“It’s significantly more challenging at 48 than I ever anticipated,” the NFL broadcaster remarked to Us while advocating for Cancerguard’s multi-cancer early detection test.

In July 2023, Andrews and her husband, Jarret Stoll, celebrated the arrival of their son, Mack, via surrogacy after navigating a lengthy fertility journey. However, they announced in May 2025 that their surrogate experienced a miscarriage while they were trying for another child.

In her recent conversation with Us, Andrews confirmed that she and Stoll continue to pursue baby No. 2, expressing an even greater determination to expand their family.

Erin Andrews has been open about the tough realities of her fertility struggles, and even at 47, she remains committed to growing her family. On the April 14, 2026, episode of her “Calm Down With Erin and Charissa” podcast, Andrews provided an update on her latest IVF attempts. “I decided to inject […]

“For some reason, I don’t handle ‘no’ or disappointing news very well. I told my doctor recently, ‘I’m not finished yet,’” she disclosed to Us. “So, yes, I’m very motivated to keep this journey going and see what’s possible. I’ve faced a lot before, and I’ve come out stronger, so I’m ready to rewrite my story once more.”

When asked for advice for couples in similar situations, Andrews advised, “I told my girlfriends just the other day that I’m incredibly thankful for open communication because bottling it up isn’t healthy. So, I encourage everyone to lean on their loved ones, even if they haven’t experienced this themselves; it’s truly the best approach.”

This month marks a decade since Andrews was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Following her diagnosis in September 2016, the sportscaster underwent two surgeries and was declared cancer-free in 2017.

Andrews is currently collaborating with Cancerguard to promote awareness of their multi-cancer early detection test, which requires just one blood draw to detect over 50 different types and subtypes of cancer. Cancerguard is designed to complement routine cancer screenings.

Reflecting on her cervical cancer diagnosis in September 2016, Andrews shared her memories with Us.

“I remember it vividly,” she recounted. “I was in a hotel meeting room on a Saturday, preparing for the third week of Eagles at Giants, waiting for a major production meeting. Then, my gynecologist sent me a text saying, ‘Call me.’ My heart sank because receiving a Saturday text from a doctor usually hints at bad news. I had gone in for a routine checkup with no symptoms, just my regular yearly visit.”

Andrews believes her own cancer experience lends greater significance to her work with Cancerguard, as she wants to advocate for “early detection” for others.

“I felt like I was having an outer body experience. I couldn’t feel my legs or arms when I got the news,” Andrews remembered. “I wanted to call my boyfriend—now my husband—and I reached out to my parents. It was overwhelming and terrifying. Thankfully, we’re proactive about our health.”

She continued, “I wanted to schedule my surgery immediately, only to find out I needed another one afterward. It was a lot to process and a significant strain on my family, but it reinforced my gratitude for going to the doctor. I’m relieved to have had that routine checkup because it enabled me to take action, which is precisely what Cancerguard aims to provide. It’s a prescription blood test screening for over 50 cancer types and subtypes, offering immense peace of mind. It’s an essential complement to regular screenings that everyone should prioritize.”

Nearly a decade after battling cancer, Andrews celebrated a major milestone in her remission.

“I’ve transitioned from seeing my wonderful oncologist every six months to just once a year,” she shared with Us. “He’s always reassuring, saying, ‘You’re healthy, you’re healthy, you’re healthy.’ But having been diagnosed with cancer makes you dread those follow-up appointments, even when you feel perfectly fine.”

A significant reason Andrews remains proactive about her health is her role as a mother to her three-year-old son, Mack.

“Everything shifts in meaning when you have a 3-year-old who walks, talks, and expresses himself like an adult,” she said. “Especially after all I underwent to bring him here with IVF treatments, I take my health seriously. It’s crucial to care for yourself and him. Additionally, prioritizing mental health is vital, as it can be quite a journey.”

Football aficionados can catch Andrews on the sidelines each week as part of Fox Sports’ NFL broadcasting team, alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt and analyst Tom Brady.
