Tom Brady Responds to Broadcasting Critics: ‘It’s Just Clickbait’
Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is confident that he will complete his entire 10-year broadcasting contract with Fox, despite receiving criticism from skeptics.
“It’s just clickbait for people, and they’re focusing on something they don’t fully understand,” Brady, 49, stated in an interview with Sports Business Journal, published on Monday, September 7.
Brady attributes some of the backlash to a perceived conflict of interest, given that he is both an NFL broadcaster and a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Others have suggested that the future Hall of Famer is spreading himself too thin, which could hinder his performance on air. Alongside his broadcasting duties at Fox and involvement with the Raiders, he also co-owns the Las Vegas Aces and Birmingham FC, serves as an advisor to Delta Airlines, endorses several products, and founded the collectibles company CardVault.
“They just put stuff out there and see what resonates,” Brady remarked about his critics. “So for me, I concentrate on what I need to do to stay prepared. That’s what I did as a player, and I apply the same mindset as a broadcaster every week.”
Entering his third season with Fox, Brady expressed his commitment to meeting the high expectations tied to his 10-year, $375 million contract.
“I have a lot to prove—to myself, my colleagues, and the executives,” he stated. “I want to earn my place, not have it handed to me. I hope to remain with the organization until the end of my contract. I cherish the opportunity to enjoy the game, appreciate good football, and the incredible camaraderie and chemistry we share. We organize seminars, have off-site retreats, and maintain text threads. It feels like one big family, which was something I didn’t anticipate when I accepted the role.”
After his first season in the commentator role, Brady discussed with Us the difficulties of shifting from the field to the broadcast booth.
“Understanding what’s expected of me and how I wish to communicate that to the audience has been key, alongside having fantastic teammates at Fox like Kevin Burkhardt, Erin Andrews, Tom Rinaldi, and all those involved in game production. I truly enjoy being part of it,” he said in October 2025.
Brady noted at the time, “It’s live television. Everything you say is out there. Whether you trip over your words or mix up a name or number, things like that occur. You just have to roll with it.”
