Carli Lloyd Welcomes Second Child with Brian Hollins

Carli Lloyd and her husband, Brian Hollins, have welcomed a new addition to their family with the birth of their second child.

The former United States women’s national soccer team player, 44, and the golfer, 42, shared the exciting news on Monday, September 28, announcing that they welcomed a son named Hunter Jax just four days earlier.

“Our hearts are fuller than ever. 🤍 Welcome to the world, our precious baby boy 💙,” Lloyd posted on Instagram, along with sweet photos of her newborn. “The delivery wasn’t the easiest, which makes us even more thankful for the fantastic team of doctors, nurses, and everyone who provided such wonderful care throughout this pregnancy, especially @mcobgyns @virtuahealth, Dr. McCrosson, Dr. McCullen, Erica O’Learly, Dr. Zender, Jordan. We appreciate the exceptional care!!”

In her update, the athlete confirmed that the family is back home, enjoying time together and “adjusting to life as a family of four—especially with our 2-year-old embracing her new role as big sister 🥹🤍.”

“Though these days are a bit overwhelming and sleepless, they’re uniquely special. We are incredibly thankful to have our baby boy safe, loved, and become a part of our lives,” she shared. “Welcome, little one, to the family. Our love for you is beyond words 💙.”

Lloyd and Hollins tied the knot in November 2016, after nearly 20 years together. The high school sweethearts had their first child, daughter Harper, in October 2024.

Less than two years later, Lloyd revealed in April that she was expecting baby No. 2 with Hollins.

“Our family is growing, and we couldn’t be more thankful! 🤍,” she wrote on Instagram back then. “We are embracing every moment filled with love and excitement as we prepare to welcome another little miracle into our lives. It’s hard to believe we are blessed to have another baby, and our hearts are so full. 💖. Baby #2 is coming September 2026! #familyoffour #ivfjourney #grateful #blessed.”

The photos posted featured Harper wearing a pink sweater that said “big sister” while her parents showcased sonogram images and Lloyd’s baby bump.

The next month, Lloyd provided an update on her journey through pregnancy while managing her parenting duties.

“I’m trying to cherish the little moments as life rushes by faster than I can keep up!” she noted via Instagram in May. “The days with a toddler, days of pregnancy, and all the work days—every single one is beautiful, exhausting, and somehow gone before I even realize it. 🤍.”

In recent times, Lloyd has been candid about her challenges with infertility and IVF. She disclosed in a 2024 Women’s Health essay that upon beginning to try for a baby with Hollins two years prior, she encountered difficulties conceiving.

“I learned that I was quite naive to think we wouldn’t face any challenges in getting pregnant,” she wrote then. “And thus started the journey from a casual approach of whatever happens to disappointment month after month. I felt like I was racing against time—dealing with my 40-year-old biological clock.”

Even though Lloyd was initially reluctant to consider IVF after struggling with natural conception, she later changed her perspective after consulting with a specialist.

Some celebrities wait until later in life to expand their families. For instance, Alanis Morissette announced in March 2019 that she was expecting her third child at age 44. The “Ironic” singer, who wed rapper Mario “Souleye” Treadway in 2010, posted a baby bump photo to […]

“I resisted this option for so long,” she reflected. “As a woman, I wanted to conceive naturally because I believed it’s what our bodies are designed for. I felt as though my body failed me.”

Lloyd, who also expressed the challenges surrounding the egg retrieval and embryo transfer process, initially felt “ashamed and embarrassed” about needing IVF, but she eventually came to understand that “we’re all human, and many women are experiencing similar difficulties.”

“There’s a stigma attached to requiring assistance or going through fertility treatments,” she added. “It’s not discussed enough, but the process might differ, leading to the same beautiful outcome: becoming a parent.”
