Lala Kent’s Daughter Sosa Experienced Breathing Difficulties During L.A. Fires
Vanderpump Rules alum Lala Kent has left Los Angeles with her daughters due to the ongoing wildfires.
“This morning, Sosa had a rough time breathing. I decided it was best to pack up my family and head to Palm Springs, purely due to the air quality,” wrote Kent, 34, on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, January 9. “We will remain here until it’s safe to return to L.A.”
Kent resides primarily in Los Angeles with her daughters, Ocean, 3, and Sosa, 4 months old.
Wildfires erupted on Tuesday, January 7, in the Pacific Palisades area, rapidly causing extensive damage. Numerous celebrities lost their homes, while others evacuated outside the city following emergency orders.
“This is one of the most heartbreaking situations I have ever witnessed,” Kent expressed on Thursday. “If you haven’t been affected personally, you likely know someone who has lost everything. I can’t stop thinking about how underprepared we were. My heart breaks for my community. Neighborhoods that people have called home for years are now gone. It’s beyond comprehension.”
According to Kent, she has “not been directly impacted” and is attempting to “feel thankful for that.”
“It’s difficult due to the struggles others are facing,” the Bravo star noted. “In times like this, all you desire is to return home for solace, yet thousands of people no longer have their safe spaces. There are looters, shortages of water, and a lack of preparedness. I’m upset, but I’m also furious.”
While Kent promised to “save that rant for another time,” she shared her appreciation for first responders.
“For now, I just want to express my gratitude to our firefighters and first responders. They are our city’s heroes,” concluded Kent on Thursday. “And to everyone impacted — I know you feel isolated. You are not alone.”
Kent shares Ocean with ex-fiancé Randall Emmett and gave birth to Sosa in September 2024. To conceive her second child, Kent used a sperm donor and underwent intrauterine insemination (IUI).
“The outside world can be odd. Not everyone is as progressive as we are, and I thought, ‘I’m bringing this baby into the world because I want her here. But I also want to address as many questions as I can,’” Kent said on a March 2024 episode of her podcast. “[I wished for her to] share the same aesthetic look as me, my mom, Ocean. Life is already challenging when you come from a perfectly normal family. I don’t want to make it harder.”
