Billy Ray Cyrus Makes Comeback on Social Media Following Health Drama

Billy Ray Cyrus has made a return to social media after his son Trace Cyrus expressed concern regarding his father’s well-being.

Billy Ray, 63, spent Saturday, January 25, enjoying time with his dogs and shared highlights of the day through Instagram Story. One of the clips featured a puppy joyfully running through a field, accompanied by the song “Rocky Top” by The Osborne Brothers.

In another clip, the same puppy was seen snuggled up in a car’s passenger seat while Coldplay’s “Yellow” played softly on the radio, with one of Billy Ray’s other dogs resting outside.

Earlier that week, Trace, 35, posted an emotional note on social media stating that his renowned father was not “healthy.” In the post, he expressed his willingness to support Billy Ray with any challenges he might be “struggling with” following his performance at the Liberty Ball on Monday, January 20, in celebration of President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“Since my earliest memories, I’ve always been obsessed with you and thought you were the coolest person ever,” Trace shared via Instagram on Wednesday, January 22, along with a nostalgic photo of them on stage together. “I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life.”

In his heartfelt message, Trace also mentioned that “the girls,” including his sister Noah Cyrus, are likewise worried about their dad. “Sadly, the man I wanted so desperately to emulate is someone I can hardly recognize now,” the former Metro Station frontman continued. “It seems this world has taken a toll on you, and it’s clear to everyone but you.”

Billy Ray is a father of six. He adopted Trace and his sister Brandi, 37, who are the biological children of his ex-wife Tish Cyrus, from a previous relationship. He also has Miley, 32, Braisin, 30, and Noah, 25, with Tish during their marriage, along with son Christopher Cody, 32, from his relationship with Kristen Luckey.

Not all of Billy Ray’s children share the same perspective regarding their father’s health. On Friday, January 24, Braison claimed via Instagram Stories that Billy Ray was recovering well following a hospital visit in 2024.

“After a week in the hospital last fall, I’m thankful that my dad is happy, healthy, and ready to create this record,” Braison wrote. He and Billy Ray announced on Friday that they would be collaborating on the Grammy winner’s next album, with Braison taking on the role of producer.

Billy Ray has yet to respond to Trace’s remarks. However, Trace reacted to Braison’s statement on Friday, saying via Instagram Story, “Birds of a feather, flock together. This is what healthy looks like. Braison, I can help you too. Damn, man up boys.” Us Weekly has reached out to Braison for his comments.
