We Tested It: The White Lotus Coffee Mate Creamer

The White Lotus is making its way to Thailand this year, and Coffee mate is providing fans with a taste of the exquisite surroundings and luxurious lifestyle through new coffee creamers that celebrate the acclaimed HBO series.

Available for a limited time in grocery stores across the nation, Coffee mate’s The White Lotus Thai Iced Coffee Flavored Creamer and Piña Colada Flavored Creamer retail for $4.49 each, making them the ideal companions for a refreshing boost just in time for the series’ third season, which debuts on HBO on Sunday, February 16.

In the newest edition of Us Weekly’s We Tried It, Associate Editor Nicole Massabrook and Assistant Editor Molly McGuigan sampled both flavors of the new creamers and were pleasantly surprised by their experience.

Starting with the Thai Iced Coffee variety, Molly quickly remarked, “It’s not overly sweet, which was my initial concern,” while Nicole provided context about the tradition of Thai coffee.

“Thai coffee is usually a robust brew complemented by sweetened condensed milk,” she explained. “It’s really intended to enhance the coffee itself.”

As the editors enjoyed their French press-brewed coffee, they noted that this particular flavor is likely best enjoyed with iced coffee — especially if they can sip it poolside, reminiscent of the show’s characters.

Moving on, Nicole and Molly approached the Piña Colada flavor with some hesitation but ended up appreciating the distinctive pairing.

“It definitely has the aroma of piña colada, which made me a bit nervous for the first sip because mixing piña colada with coffee isn’t typical,” Nicole observed. “However, this flavor actually complements quite well.”

She continued, “I’m genuinely surprised by these. I had my reservations.”

Molly agreed, noting that the taste is present but not overpowering, while Nicole added that the creamer is significantly “coconut-forward.”

One can easily envision the cast of season 3 — featuring Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Aimee Lou Wood — enjoying these flavored coffees, and Molly observes that it “sounds like they’ll really need it this season.”

Mike White, the series’ creator, writer, and director, hinted that this latest season will be “much, much darker” than its predecessors in a January 2025 interview with TIME.

He shared that this season will “explore existential themes related to facing the void of self” and “incorporate Buddhist motifs concerning life, death, and ethics,” describing it overall as “more intense.”

“So, they’re going to need some piña coladas,” Molly joked after sampling the flavored coffee.

“They’ll need multiple piña coladas,” Nicole added.

The White Lotus season 3 premieres on HBO and streams on Max on Sunday, February 16 at 9 p.m. ET.
