The Valley Recap: Jax Taylor Reflects on His Regrets Regarding Brittany Cartwright
Jax Taylor seems prepared to acknowledge some of his past misdeeds.
In the episode of The Valley that aired on Tuesday, June 3, the reality star took a moment away from his self-improvement journey at an in-patient treatment center to connect with costar Jason Caperna.
“I’m so exhausted from anger. I’m so tired of shouting,” Jax, 45, admitted before recognizing his flaws regarding his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright. “I also pushed her away. I pushed her away, and I didn’t even f***ing realize it. I’ve gotten away with it for so long that I deemed it acceptable behavior, and it’s clearly not.”
A montage began to play showing Jax interacting disrespectfully with Brittany, 36.
Jax described his time in the treatment facility as a significant “wake-up call.”
“I wish I was held more accountable,” he told Jason, 41, while holding back tears. “I wish Brittany would have left me a long time ago.”

In August 2024, Brittany filed for divorce from Jax after five years of marriage. They share a son, Cruz, 4, who was recently diagnosed with autism.
The heartfelt conversation left both Jason and his wife, Janet Caperna, optimistic that the former Vanderpump Rules star was on the path to changing his behavior.
“I’m hearing Jax acknowledge that his actions have been inappropriate for a long time,” Janet, 40, shared in a confessional interview. “It’s a positive start, and I’m hopeful it marks the beginning of change. We’ll see what unfolds from here.”
Jason remarked, “This is the first instance where I’ve spoken to you, and you’ve accepted responsibility without saying, ‘I messed up but…’”
However, later in the episode, Brittany voiced concerns that the treatment facility may not be positively impacting her estranged husband.
Brittany mentioned that Jax emailed her stating he would no longer contribute to their shared mortgage. This revelation left her questioning what might happen next.
“I had always hoped that being in the facility would invoke some change or at least help him see things a bit clearer,” she said. “But judging by his behavior since he’s been there, I’m genuinely worried that he hasn’t learned anything at all.”
